I'm not sure if this is like the best place to put this, I would just go to like, R/lostmedia or something, but I don't have a reddit account or anything and I don't rly want to make one so idk thought it might be worth a shot putting this on here. When I was a little kid(either 2012 or maybe 2013)and went to my aunts house, my older cousin on multiple occasions read this picture book that rly creeped me out, the illustrations were rly weird and like only in like black, whites, and browns I think. I can't rly remember what the plot was, for some reason I have a feeling it may have had something to do with either x-rays or ultrasounds(as weird as that sounds). The illustrations from the book scared me so bad that I would beg my older cousin not to read it to me, and then I would cry to my parents when she did. I haven't been able to find the book anywhere online unsurprisingly given how little I can remember about it, I've asked my parents and they don't remember this at all, I would ask my cousin but we've lowkey had a massive falling out and I pretty much never see her nowadays so yeah. I've made these two paintings below that are recreations of the illustrations that I can remember, I wish I had more information but that's pretty much it. If anyone has any idea what this book may be don't hesitate to let me know, even if u think it might be a stretch every answer helps :ozwomp:

This isn't really triggering any memories for me, so I don't think I've read one like this before. There is the "Scary stories to tell in the dark" series, which has a good number of very scary black and white illustrations, but I don't know if that would have been it.

I'm intrigued to see if you find it! We form so many memories as kids, and it's always interesting to go back and adults and see them again with older eyes.

The Scary Stories to tell in the dark series were actually some of my fav books when I was younger, I would read them all the time and a lot of the illustrations from them freaked me out too, but considering I have those books pretty much memorized, I know this isn't that. I think one of the things about the illustrations from this mystery book is how they reminded me of a particular ghost illustration from the third Scary Stories book(aka the one displayed below here). The style of both the illustrations I can remember and this image are somewhat similar from what I can recollect, mainly the abnormally round heads and skinny pale body in the drawing shown here is very akin to the style of illustrations I remember, so theres that ig. Thanks for the suggestion anyway :ok:
