What is home?

Never thought of a personalized definition of a home. But I guess thinking on it, home, for me, is familiarity. And what I'm most familiar with is my personal work. It's where I know I can hang up my coat after weathering the world's troubles for the day without someone suddenly busting in to demand more out of me than I can already give. It's where I know I can switch from working on a job to working on something I actually care about. It's the desk I keep in a snug corner, where either my computer, my art supplies, or my knickknacks and tools are, where I can then sit down and create in peace.

A physical place is just a physical place, a site is just a site, and people will always be people. Sometimes moving hurts, but sometimes the change is necessary. As long as I can find room to settle and create, that, to me, is home.

i have a few answers. I have never felt like I really had one. home is a thing you have to create, by beliving in it, maybe, in combination with the people there accepting you. home is a matter of faith.

but also home is the city I grew up in.

and also home is just wherever I physically live at the time, because I love practical answers to things like this.

I often think about what home is. i usually look at it from a certain trauma lens, since being foster kid and what not. I never had an exact place to call 'home.' But yet, I still crave it. I crave the comforts and nostalgia of having some place stable. But is it really home?

I dunno, i think home is who you are as a person. A home is what you make of yourself and where you feel comfortable in life. Because no matter where you go, you should feel comfortable being your own home.

Home is when im alone, home is also when I dont feel like im in a rush, home is also where I can take up a lot of space, home is my friend's laugh, home is my laugh, home is in my car, home is my mom's scent and the sound of her bangles, home is where I can play music and cook and make a big mess, home is in the overgrown grass and wildflowers and bluebonnets behind my family's house, and home is my bed (wherever I am at the time) surrounded by my trinkets and items where the air smells like rosewater and tea tree oil.

I like other people's homes too:

When I am home, I don't have to worry about how to find my way back home.

Occasionally, though... home is also the Rapunzel tower that I just can't seem to leave, and just watch others from who pass by my windows.

At some other point, home was where I could sit on the floor for hours in my underwear. It was my favorite foods, it was silence, it was a sunny Sunday with nothing to do, and the freedom + loneliness combo of going out just to wander. It was my favorite shower, my favorite oven and anime posters on the wall.

Home is where I feel the most safe. Somewhere easy to relax and where I can do whatever I want. Depending on my moon I can either be alone or with friends. To me home is something that feels warm, I feel like the term "warm" is different from people to people.
