I like repetitive electronic music because it helps me get into the repetitive nature of coding! It also makes it feel fun! I know next to nothing about coding but with this music I am now Matthew Lillard (Cereal Killer) in the 1995 film Hackers

my honest answer is that i don't often choose any particular music to put on while coding. most of the time i've spent working on my website has been sitting on the couch listening to whatever my partner is watching or playing on the tv. lately that's been a lot of yugioh the eternal duelist soul (which has a pretty great ost) and before that it was a bunch of astronomy videos. actually, when i get really stuck on a coding problem, i usually go into a quiet room and try to get into super focus mode... only returning to the world of sounds and music when i am done...

but i have a fun answer too! slugbug always gets me in the mood to think about computers & websites. some of my favorites are layer of abstraction, macintosh tapes, and of course, the classic:

Awww, your coding time sounds nice C: And your second point makes a lot of sense, sometimes any noises feel like too much when I'm really trying to think hard about something.

These are excellent choices!! I've never heard of this guy before but I love these songs, really silly and fun, I love anything weird and different. I can totally see how these would put one in the computer mood

a few days ago i came across a link to musicforprogramming.net, which has dozens of playlists full of "Noise, Drones, Arpeggios, Atmospheres, Field Recordings, and Arrhythmic Textures" i've been enjoying them!

one thing i've been wondering since reading this topic: how much do people feel that music they listen to while coding influences the webpages they make? does anyone find themself making different style choices based on the tempo of the music, or the types of instruments used?

I feel like music would definitely influence people to some degree. I know it does when I'm making art while listening to certain music. For me though it takes me a long time to make webpages, so I don't know if one song is enough to really influence my trajectory on a page. It would be so fun i feel to be able to make webpages on a whim like that, but im just not there yet haha.
