I've been wanting to get into 1990s styled pop music from my time in the Vocaloid and less so the City Pop community. Something about the upbeat synths used and especially the percussion tickles my ears like nothing else. I've had the Radiant Revival remix on repeat for who knows how long!

hello! resident music nerd here. i don't have a lot of experience with this particular niche, but when there's a genre rabbithole i wanna go down, there are two places i turn to:
* rateyourmusic. the community's a little pretentious and it does well to not pay attention to fan ratings of things... but it's got some of the most in-depth genre tags out there. a lot better than whatever spotify's doing with genres now, that's for sure.
* if i end up being so fortunate as to find a genre i really like, i go to ol' reliable youtube dot com for dj mixes!

i ended up poking around on the tail end of the 90s in rym's city pop tag--and ended up finding a bunch of other genres you might wanna check out :}
- synth funk
- new jack swing
- techno kayo

happy exploring!

Blümchen (especially "Herz an Herz", "Nur Geträumt") might be interesting. She was basically the commercial front for some guy who commercialized the NDW-Genre before, and then went on to try the same with Happy Hardcore (Which was already an attempt to commercialize techno music - "I want to be a Hippie" by Technohead was a trailblazer in this regard). I believe that this had some influence to both the early HyperPop (the earlier 100Gecs stuff is also 90s coded I think, but they later moved on to early 2000 commercial punk) and stuff as nightcore alike, but I could be at wrong here. The sound, however, is terrifying even to people who are used to listen to harsh wall noise.

Another relevant band would be Aqua - everybody knows Barbie Girl, but they have quite some bangers; my favorite would be Dr. Joe.

Edit: After checking out your links, I see that you are more interested in rather harmless variants of 90s pop :D
business casual might be relevant; I recommend Future Girlfriend.
