HELP: making a sort of randomizer?

so I am a fan of this musical that is kind of infamous for having each version of it be drastically different and also very strange, and I thought it would be funny if I made a website that could generate a description of a "new" version of the musical by having a sort of like. madlibs-like thing with blanks that would be filled in with a word picked randomly from a list of words. if that makes sense.

for example one of them could be:

this version takes place in the year ______

and then the list would have things like. 2012, 1991, 1984, 1972, 1960, etc and it would choose 1 of those to put in the blank.

I would ideally want several of these in the thing.


but I just. do not know where to start? how hard would this be to make? what would be the best way to approach it, etc

I tried to come up with a solution that only uses vanilla-js. There may be a better way to do it 
Every instance of a #word gets replaced by a random word from the words variable.
