Sometimes i think when neocities.org and etc will be just story

Sometimes i think when neocities will be just a story like geocities,I NEVER WANT IT TO HAPPEN but i think on that some minutes,I know geocities have archives and etc,But if this never end Think showing Your website to your grandsons and etc and say "I did that when i was on your age" I know this a VERY STUPID TOPIC,but...What do you think?

Yea i get it,, honestly one of my fears is that dead internet theory is going to ruin Neocities and adjacent sites. I want my website to live on far long after me, and I'd hate to think one day it'll just be stories of the past

But, hopefully, we can keep this corner of the internet alive a lot longer than Geocities

My hope is that if Neocities ever shuts down there's several months of warning beforehand, so there's time for the Internet Archive to save everything (...much like Geocities, which is well archived) and for people to back up their sites  (it's also a good idea to back up your website frequently anyway!) and change hosting if so inclined.

But the web revival doesn't have to be a Neocities-specific thing- it isn't to begin with. If Neocities ever shuts down we can still carry on the spirit of the communities here. Not that I think that's happening any time soon, but it's good to be prepared just in case. I think it's good to think of all online spaces as impermanent, and have plans in place in case you need to move house.
