Matrix spaces and rooms

Hey! I honestly have been liking Matrix so far, and would rather use that much more, expecially if compared to Discord. Would it be okay to have this post to share our matrix chatrooms?

What's matrix?
Matrix is an open source chat protocol built with security in mind, and is self-hostable. My account is hosted onto matrix.envs.net, but it doesn't matter where you create it since you can then talk to the whole federated network (something akin to the fediverse). The more mature client is Element, at the moment.

My lil space's name is astral town (invite link)! It's just a cozy little place to talk about anything that might sound interesting, be it the smallweb, videogames, crocheting, etcetera. this room has been deleted some time ago, since envs.net is closing down their matrix instance.

Discord does not actually have servers, you just create a room on their server that they can do with as they please if they wanted to.
Matrix you can host on an actual server, so it's actually yours, including all the data.

Plus, the Matrix protocol actually has more features than Discord; unlimited file transfers, images, video, markup formatting, video conference calls, audio calls, custom emoji, stickers, full encryption...
It even has a Discord-like system called spaces, where you can have many channels within a larger "space" (like a so-called Discord "server":wink:.

And, if you want, a Discord-like client called Cinny. Although Element is admittedly further along in development.

As for clients, SchildiChat and Fluffychat are nice, too. Fluffychat supports emojis, stickers, and account switching. While SchildiChat is Element with a few improvements. Recently, I've been using iamb, a Vi/Vim inspired TUI client.

Are there any Matrix Clients built anything like Pidgin or Psi+? One of the main reasons I can't stand matrix is because almost every client is a damn electron webapp that looks like it runs on windows 10 and offers no recourse for themeing. Psi+ Is basically exactly what I want in a messaging application, and matrix works almost exactly like XMPP, but I can't seem to find a client for matrix that provides that classic IM experience. (I also don't really like Matrix's lack of account system, it feels sometimes like matrix is overall basically just a worse version of XMPP, but I digress)
