This is a thread dedicated to Japanese Shift_JIS art. To render them correctly, You will need the MS PGothic font (on Windows) or Mona font (on non-Windows OSes like Linux). The tags are

this post itself isn't ascii art, but i though this might be a good place to express my love for the social media Station which is run on the gemini protocol which doesnt support displaying images in any normal way, so in order to render profile pictures, they have to automatically convert the image you upload to ASCII art and display it at the top of your profile! its really cute.

I didn't know about Mona font... This definitely makes things a lot better when researching Japanese text art!!

A bit of a nitpick though, Japanese text art does not use ASCII- it uses Shift JIS!

A little coincidence. Just after reading this thread I went back to Google Search Console as they were sending emails saying some of my pages couldn't be indexed. Poking around in that, someone had linked to a page that now has a redirect on it.

It's an article on a French site (in English) called Rediscovering the Small Web. Another old site mentioned is Joan Stark's ASCII Art Gallery (Internet Archive) created on Geocities in 1996.
