Last year, I really enjoyed exploring albums and finding stuff I haven't listened to before. I ended up getting into genres that would stick with me in the long haul. And I think I will continue that tradition this year.

Do any of you guys have some favorite albums you enjoy listening to so far this year? They can be new releases or new to you.

If anyone is curious of mine. As of February 2026, I loved listening to Homogenic by Bjork last year. So I went back and listened to her album Post and really fell for that as well.

Hemlocke Springs Finally released her debut album The Apple Tree Under The Sea and I gave it a listen and gosh I was blown away. Hemlocke's music feels like it became more elevated with a good producer under her belt now. She's so talented and I am so happy this album highlighted her unique style more.

(Will probably reply back towards the end of the year of albums I liked in retrospect? We'll see.)

My partner and I just discovered Hemlocke Springs last night actually. We liked them quite a bit!

I did a lot more album exploration last year, but so far this year I found an older band called Guano Apes that I highly recommend. Their debut album Proud like a God is especially good imo.

As for new music, Red Vox released a new album (Retcon) two weeks ago that I really enjoyed. (I especially liked Remember off the album).

I also have started working through Coheed and Cambria's discog this year. So far Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness has been the standout.

That all said, I have a lot of music I'd love to recc, is there any genres in particular you'd like to hear?

Yay a fellow locket! :unite:  (Does Hemlocke go by they/them? I'm sorry for my error there.  :drat: I will use their proper pronouns.)
For recs I would like? Something like Oklou's Choke Enough album or Charli XCX's Brat album. I loved the euro tech vibes from both artists.

Haven't found one yet. I'm currently in a limbo between albums XP
An album that I had on repeat during the end of last year was View-Monster by Lemon Demon. I've heard of it before but only recently have I truly listened to it and I'm in love :3

I dunno! I just default to neutral unless I know otherwise.

I definitely don't have anything like Choke Enough. However,  it's not quite in the same sphere as Brat, but you might like Hyperdrama by JUSTICE.

More types of electronic music from its wide ranges of genres is always greatly appreciated recs in general too. Thank you very much on this album and artist. I will add it to my list and give it a listen.

Does Hemlocke go by they/them?
according to hemlocks instagram she goes by she her!

ive been following hemlock springs since i heard her heavun track, and i'm so happy she's seen such success recently!!

another album im looking forward too is femtanyls newest album, so far only two tracks have been dropped but ive been blasting 'body the pistol' like NOBODIES business. i was able to snag tickets to the show here and im soooo stoked for when it happens

an album that came out LAST YEAR that i absolutely adore is LUX by rosalia, im a huge sucker for religious imagery and choir pieces, which LUX has in berghain but for me an underated track is 'mio cristo piange diamanti' which has some really emotional lyricism. (and it deff helps that i can relate the song pretty well to my current blorbos)

an album thats new TO ME from this year is 'when the going gets tough the tough gets going' by BOW WOW WOW, i'd been listening to a lot more electronic pop music, very hyperpop very club, so it was so fun and refreshing to go back to a tried and true new wave album. 'love peace and harmony'
is an absolute banger!!

edit: just realizing another album i loved that was new to me last year was vespertine by bjork. i wasn't at a very bjork time in my life before but ive listened to a lot more experimental stuff since i was younger (no longer trapped in my 70s dad rock cage) so i gave it another listen and i LOVE it, her work feels so magical. listend to pagan poetry as it was raining today and you really cant beat it (funfact, not only does bjork feature on berghain in LUX but she also worked w/rosalia two years ago on the track oral, which could have released on vespertine but ended up not fitting the album.)

My album of the year 2025 was Candelabro's "Deseo, Carne y Voluntad" which made it all the way to #9 in RYM even though most people who rated it don't understand the lyrics since they are spanish.

It's just over an hour of artsy jazzy rock, with a mix of despair and hopecore commenting on the state of Chile (yet actually being appropiate commentary on the state of the world). The vocals are amazing, specially the female ones, and I have yet to finish the album without crying (I don't think I have ever listened to Tierra Maldita without crying).

Anyways yeah, it's an amazing album and I'd recommend it even if you do not understand spanish (I think I'll make a writeup on it anyways so that could help the english community to understand it better), and if you understand spanish and haven't listened to it I don't really know why you haven't put it on yet :)

Only bad thing I can say about it is that it starts a little slow, with most of my least favourite tracks being in the first half.

More types of electronic music from its wide ranges of genres is always greatly appreciated recs in general too. Thank you very much on this album and artist. I will add it to my list and give it a listen.

Have you listened to Ninajirachi's album? It's a must listen if not :P

Gosh I haven't but I will put it on my list too. I feel so out of the loop when it comes to music. I spent my youth seeing pop punk and 2000s alt music broadcasted on my TV and also listening to some R&B and Hip-Hop that my household played as well. Then when I got Spotify in the late 2010s?,(I since quit a year ago now.)I was streaming indie songs I vibed with. Now I just been rediscovering music again through album recs and general exploring.
