Watching the documentary about my brother's arrival on Earth, eating my cereal, and occasionally taking a turn in the ever running game of Civilization III that ran on my grandpa's ancient Gateway 2000 E-3110. It chugged running Windows XP itself. Idk how he even managed to install it. For some reason, the game itself worked fine although the talking heads were very glitchy and strange. It is the first civilization game which is more of an arcade strategy game than a "simulation" type thing. It is very much a classic as long as you can tolerate a cheating ai. If you like Advance Wars or Fire Emblem you might like this game a lot.

All of this was in 2011. My grandpa was just the cool kind of guy who had an interest in old computers and didn't mind it when I accidentally spilled a few things on his magnificent keyboards. I miss him. Windows XP rules.

Watching the documentary about my brother's arrival on Earth,...

Is that supposed to be Invader Zim? Thats a really clever/funny way to metion it. A flever way...
Anyways my favorite game would probably just be Me and My Grandma; its an old learning game based on one of those books with the hairy hobbit toe looking creature, and i remember the little jingle that played at the beginning, and all the scenarios that played out where i believe they go from the house to the beach and to the market i think? i forgot, its been AGES since ive touched the game since that Hatch pc we had got for my disabled sister has been out of the family for 5 or more years. The only other game I can remember would have to be Space Pinball, which most XP users have probably played AT LEAST once, definitely more. its a damn good time waster.

I remember playing this and I had forgotten it entirely until now. I also remember warmux, which I played on the windows xp because it has a windows version which I find odd. I remember the game having a very dreamlike and sleepy soundtrack which did not fit the carnage on the screen whatsoever - nor did it fit the sound effects. This game is also an example of a mascot game since all of the playable characters are mascots.

I was completely hooked on Starcraft: Brood War, tycoon games, and the flash games on sites like Cartoon Network and Miniclip. But my favorites by far, and some of the most defining games of their genre were released on Windows XP. We're talking MMOs and especially titles like Runescape, World of Warcraft, and Maplestory!  :dog:

tower of heaven has a really charming art style akin to gameboy games and music that i can only describe as angelic. even if the level design's a bit janky i still keep coming back to it every once in a while.

Maybe not my most favorite, but the first that came to mind was the iSpy games. I had the iSpy Treasure Island game and played it quite a bit with my family. I recently just bought iSpy Fantasy as well, thinking about getting the others.

One of the games that we may have played the most was The Sims 2. It is still my favourite edition in the series, although we never had any expansions packs. My mom had even called out sick to work just so she could play!

Some other games that I remember are the Robots game based on the movie and some sort of Monsters Inc game (I think it was also like a treasure hunt). I also played plenty of online games like Club Penguin and Runescape while on Windows XP.

I honestly kinda jumped from Windows XP to the end of Windows 8/Start of 10. But have been using Linux the past couple years at it has allowed me to easily play games from this era.

Idk if I've already mentioned them here (and I'm sorry for being repetitive if I have), but my childhood was almost entirely built off the classic Humungous Entertainment games. Putt-Putt, Pajama Sam, Freddy Fish, all of them. I even played that weird ass Fatty Bear game that never went anywhere. It's strange that I had that game but not any of the Spy Fox games too.

But other than those, I also grew up loving The Sims 3 and Spore~

I think my perception on "XP era" games is a bit warped considering my family computer was running XP well into 2014 :P

My favorite game from that time is definitely Spore. I still play it occasionally to this day. Definitely one of my top 3 favorite games of all time.

I'd say my favourites are definitely early Minecraft (I consider up through the beta versions XP-era) and the included XP games! I've gotten so much mileage out of Pinball and Solitaire over the years, and I love the simplicity of old Minecraft.

Meanwhile, if Flash games count, I'd also add Super Mario 63 and Learn to Fly 2! Super Mario 63 is a fanmade 2D Mario game that is one of the best quality Flash games I've ever seen--I'd like to see Nintendo release a console version! And I remember having loads of fun on Learn to Fly 2 in middle school, although my middle school age was a bit past the XP era--we still loved our Flash games! :)

Counter Strike and Gta Vice city  + San Andreas. Timeless classic... Loads and loads of nostalgia.
