my school uses Microsoft Teams... in which it slows down older computers. which is mildly ironic to me since the teachers also use somewhat older hardware, most teachers still use Windows 10! and Teams slows down those computers (and my Linux computer!!)
gaaaaah Teams is a total nightmare for me. and then they say to buy new computers at the end of the year because Windows 10 will be cut from official support...

anyways, have/do anyone else here also do online school?
do you like it? have you ever thought of doing it (if you've never gone?)

I was in middle school during the pandemic. Yowch. It's definitely not my style of learning! We used Google Meets and I just struggled to pay attention... Games were right in the next tab..... And frankly, the lessons were BOOOOORING!

My most memorable assignment was from a hybrid year. I think we had one year as hybrid learners, where you had the option to spend part of your week online and part of your week in person. That year, I was taking a health class. We got the flour-baby assignment. Basically, our teacher put an egg in a bag of flour. We had to carry it around for a week. If he saw us without it, we would fail. If the egg broke, we would fail. It was supposed to teach us about how inconvenient babies are or something. My school has a robo-baby for health class now anyways????

So, I just remember finding it super funny that my flour-baby spent half my week chilling on my desk. It wasn't actually all that inconvenient.

Anyway I didn't do online school for any reason other then the pandemic, but I have a lot of friends that currently do some form of online school for mental health reasons.

Okay, so, I tried to google it and honestly I am just falling down a rabbithole now. https://www.realityworks.com/product/realcare-baby-3-infant-simulator/?v=7516fd43adaa I'm pretty sure this is what my school uses.

Anyways, I kept scrolling through google images (because frankly so many of these babies are uncanny and these images are INSANEly funny to me) and I read this article??? It was an interesting read. The study it covered wasn't the most comprehensive, but it is still neat to think about.

At my school, people only get the baby for one night. A lot of people made accessories for it, which I think is funny. One guy knitted it socks. I think my friend made it a hat? I'm looking forward to getting it next year so I can participate in the baby's communal wardrobe. It's probably a whole lot better than an egg is for giving people an example of what caring for a baby is like. I feel like it would help give you a better idea as to if you like babies, or if you cannot for the life of you stand them whatsoever.

Ugh, I remember doing that stuff for college classes during the pandemic at least. One class before that was a hybrid and honestly, it's one I refuse to talk much about because flunked it badly...

Learned quickly just how much I disliked it if it's solely online. For some reason, having it being hybrid helps some. Regardless, I still haven't the heart to try again and see if maybe it's the 'tism screwing with me and my memory or - I'm just not built for online only classes.
