Hello people! I'm CHIPY! I'm a composer and artist, amateur writter and dragon lover! (CUZ THEY FREAKING RULE >:]]))
Recently I finally got myself to make my own corner of the GREAT WILD WEB, cuz A) sick of algorithm and B) WHY NOT IT'S SO COOL!
But also because I really wanted a place to write my stories. Webfiction, for further clarification. Web-VENTURES, to even more enlightment.

I got into Homestuck last year qvqq. And hypertext fiction. And webart. And also a 15,000 pages fantasy epic but that's not the point. The point is that my eyes were OPENED to the UNLIMITED POWER of hyperlink-driven non-linear narrative as a pivotal tool for storytelling. Merge all form of medium, to craft a complex, intricate (no puns intended) web of events, myriads of image, sound, games and links, all connecting to a singular, bigger Story.
Poetic, huh? THAT'S WHY I'M MAKING MY OWN!

Anyway, the other reason for making this was to meet people. CUZ YOU GUYS ARE REALLY AMAZING. AND CREATIVE AS HELL!! There's SO MUCH amazing webpages out there, pulsating with the CREATIVITY JUICE, seriously you can FEEL IT. And I want to meet them! I want to meet YOU! And see what kind of crazy amazing silly thing you got under your silly-looking hat! >;). IS IT A BUNNY??

ok bye and thanks ^^ nice to meet ya

Welcome :wizard: ! So cool that you just got into Homestuck last year, I was just wondering the other day if anyone new ever reads it anymore! It was still actively coming out when I was in middle school/early high school and I don't remember a ton but it def had an impact on me. Obvi it's very of its time in a lot of ways and has its issues, but to me it really represents what could be possible in a webcomic-- we often don't see that kind of experimentation in webcomics these days despite how mainstream they have become. Excited to hear that you're interested in iterating on that kind of creativity!!

I've also been really inspired creatively by getting really into all this web revival/old web stuff. Not sure if I would attempt a Homestuck style webcomic bc I have more traditional webcomic aspirations for my story, but I'm really interested in maybe eventually telling smaller stories with my website (maybe some choose your own adventure stuff?) and maybe some what I can only describe as Neopets-style stuff where you could stumble across illustrations of like scary castles or other spooky/fantastical on my site.

Also very interested in the 15,000 page fantasy epic that you mentioned, what's it called?

@thistlequest  Hello! Nice to meet ya! And YEAH HOMESTUCK IS AMAZING! Actually I got into it last-last year lol sometimes I forgot we're already in 2025. And yeah, I really wish we had more webcomics like Homestuck qvqq. The interactive element is one of the most amazing things ever, and made me want to explore that too! I will never forget the good times reading walls upon walls of colored text and the feeling of wonder that it gave me. What's your fav part of Homestuck? Do you have a favourite character? M1N3'S T3R3Z1 H3H3H3 >:]] B3ST G1RL!

Oh that sounds really interesting! Gonna check your website! What's your story about? Hmmm I never really got into Neopets so my knowledge about it is pretty vague to nothing. For some reason I find the Fantastical and Mystique to go really well with the Web(especially Old web stuff)? Idk why lol but it's charming!

About the 15,000 fantasy epic, basically there was this hospital janitor named Henry Darger(not the nickelodeon hero, a common mistake) that was really shy and kind of excentric. He lived alone and didn't have any friends. When he was about to die and people were cleaning his apartment, they found about 300 watercolor illustrations, depicting beautiful flower fields, catholic girls fighting pagan demons and a great war between Good and Evil, all of them part of a 15,145 manuscript called The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is Known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion.

there are some really amazing illustrations, but also some really grotesque and gory, as the story touches on some REALLY heavy topics(due to the author's traumatic past),  so be cautious about it. It's not a published, revised work(it was never published), but rather a really pure and sincere work of outside art.

That said, if you wanna read it, I managed to find an archive with all the volumes scanned. Kinda crappy, but I'm in a mission to read it all lmao. Sadly it doesn't come with the illustrations qvqq.

Hmm apparently it's also on Archive.org.

Damn sorry for the long rambling lol. Hope u have a wonderful day, and see ya ^^

EDIT: @demiurgeQuantified HELLO FELLOW HOMESTUCK! And YEAH GIMME ALL GIMME ALL >:000

@chipyowo oh, I've seen a video about that story! Darger is a fascinating person, from what I remember there was probably some gender happening there... relatable story though, that guy loved his OCs! I haven't looked into reading it myself as the size is offputting but if you're coming off the back of Homestuck I can see why you're undaunted by that

@villain oh yeah totally! there's a lot of speculation on this topic, especially considering how the girls are depicted in the story. probably an attempt to assimilate sexuality as a theme? his story is pretty tragic, you can really see that Vivian Girls is a reflection of a LOT of things.

LMAO I think I read like, 100 pages? I really want to read it all, but a few pages into and you realize most of it are endless ramblings. Like Tolkien level of hard-building but Tolkien now feels like s o f t world-building. I think there's a 10 pages long sequence where he details a series of magical storms and tornadoes that devasted the land, filled with names and places that you never heard of and probably will never see again qvq. Pretty fascinating, but can be really tiring after some time.

But like you said, I read Homestuck lol. Long epics filled with ramblings are totally my thing now

WOA that all looks so cool! I think I've heard of that guy!

My fave HS characters growing up were probably Karkat and Rose since I gravitated towards edgy characters lol. I think I still agree with my former self about Rose but would add Kanaya and Jade too. Not sure what my fave part is since it's been so long since I read it. I was really obsessed with the pages drawn by guest artists, and I loved any part where someone would get a new outfit. And all the flash animations were amazing.

Oop, I've been on ML for all of 40 .beats and have already found the Homestucks. Yessss *fist pump*

I only got into Homestuck a few years ago actually. I got about 53% of the way through, got distracted by other stories, then restarted it literally a few days ago. I've never even finished it but that story changed my freaking brain chemistry--

I don't think I can pick a single favourite character, but I'm currently freaking out over Xefros from Hiveswap. He's just... He's just a little himbo and I love him so.

(Hiveswap spoilers)
Spoiler
Look I know I don't have the full picture yet and won't until bloody Hauntswitch comes out in the far away future, but I think. Joey needs to steal Xefros from Dammek. They should be moirails. I- I mean Joey- would be so much better for him and I'm mad about it.

Oh yeah and welcome to ML btw, fellow noobie!! :wizard:

Hiya! Welcome!

I love the idea of hypertext fiction, I'm excited to see where you go with it :) I've always been a big fan of interactive fiction, and a multimedia hypertext adventure is the ultimate form of that imo!! Perhaps this is a bit random, but have you heard of Twine? It is a cool free program for making nonlinear stories... it may or may not be a useful tool for your purposes, but since I've currently got Twine on the brain I feel I have to mention it.

Anyway, your website is very neat and I really enjoyed listening to your sick tunes :dot: I hope to see you around here in future, I'm keen to see where your creativity takes you :D

YOOO another fan of Darger's work  :omg: I've briefly fallen into hyperfixation towards his story and art the past few months.. Would love to see his stuff in the flesh, apparently some of it was at the MoMA at some point? Lucky bastards.
There is a conceptual folk album that I am really fond of that takes a lot of themes and visuals from Darger's work to be used to represent gender dysphoria and heteronormativity... which is how I found out about Henry Darger since half of the album is referencing his pieces and stories.
I actually didn't even know there was a scanned archive of his entire epic so I thank you lots for the link.  :ha:
