I have a bunch of crazy stories from my senior year of high school (2023 - 2024) that I could tell.
However, one that really sticks out to me is the second to last field trip I took along with all the other seniors during 5th period. My school sent us a few blocks away to the sports stadium nearby on fancy charter buses (exactly how they managed to gather the money up to send us on charter buses as opposed to the district's own yellow school buses is something I'll never know given how schools around here don't seem to be as funded as well as they should be, to say the least) for like an hour just to have us try on some of the caps and gowns and make a big publicity stunt out of it (this was in late May 2024 and our actual graduation ceremony was held a week later in June). Then, they made us pointlessly walk around the stadium just to get a photo of us (and it ended up being even more pointless as my school just used their stadium a block away instead of the one we were at, the one owned by the city, for the actual ceremony).
Yeah, it was a pretty pointless field trip to say the least. I'm also pretty shocked by the fact that they even took the kids that didn't bring in signed permission slips on the trip, turning the field trip into a major legal liability issue as well.
But hey, at least we got free cupcakes while we were there.
