indie social media/ microblogging?

hi! i love the indie web and small underground communities, but am also a shitposter at heart! so im wondering if u guys know any fun sites i could try that might combine these two fascinations! 

I've played around with a couple websites that give me a taste of a fun small social media community, but they always die after a couple months or r primarily used by highschoolers, without much of an adult presence. idk if 20-somethings r just boring or what, but its rlly hard to find a fun spot to make silly little posts in a small community of like-minded adults.

so lmk if u guys know of any cool e-hangout spots i should try! if not, maybe i'll just have to get together w some codey friends and try making one ourselves! who knows!

Personally I love Pillowfort and Dreamwidth! PF user interface is more intuitive than DW, which is basically a livejournal code fork from many years ago, but the community skews older and everyone there seems really nice. I don't hang out on Pillowfort much but I love the vibe.

I also love the fediverse/mastodon for this! I'm not sure if there are any instances for the kind of topic this forum is for, but there are a TON of instances!
