All of my websites are super useless, who in the world would care about my personal ramblings? Apart from maybe future me. Might as well not make any site ever if it had to be "useful"...

I get the original point was probably about the aesthetics over content trend. But well, if you made your site to be a visual artwork then that is its purpose.

The Neocities carrd problem would be solved if people didn't tag their carrds but unfortunately the culture is not that. Or well, at least when I used NC I mostly browser other sites from tags.

that person who wrote that sounds like an absolute clown.

who deems what is pointless and not? is there a standard or something to what is pointless and not?

a website may be pointless to one million people but not pointless to one person. does that make it pointless or no?

all english-written websites can be pointless to a non-english speaker and so on.

like that is the most clowny ragebait take i've heard in a long time.

and does a website need to make a point? does anything? if you say the point of facebook is for X Y and Z to make money off of users, is that website inherently better than someone's random neocities page? why? because it has a soulless, capitalistic point? lmfao

nah who cares about wether website has a point or not lol

I find it to be very mean-spirited as well and going as far as linking the deletion of the site is pretty harsh and unneeded. That said, I kinda get the "clogging up" concerns. As a website owner and someone who binges the small web frequently, content-less websites aren't something I enjoy exploring. I want to discover something, no matter what it is. If a site has zero reasoning or features something like a social linktree,  browsing becomes a bit frustrating over time.

What's actually "useless" is hard to define.  But generally speaking,  low content sites are a bit of a grey area. Can be cool and fun, can be a waste of space. Depends on the case.
