@Junebug Well I'd reckon the Fediverse would be for people like that. You cant force everyone to be a passionate web-dev but that doesnt mean they dont deserve something safer than what we have.

1 thing that stuck out to me was the assumption that most indie websites are trying to look like the 90s. yes, there's some that do that. but there's also a lot that have their own style, look like they're from the mid to late 2000s, or even ones try to look more like whole rooms or operating systems than websites. hell i've even seen some that are just text with a background color like one of them said they wanted.
i do agree that having your own website isn't revolutionary, but i also think doing it as a personal boycott of the corporate web is fine and should be encouraged
