i've been into game dev for almost 20 years now but i've only finished a handful of games as a kid that i'm not very proud of :skull: so i'm making an honest attempt to make a game inspired by my favorites!!

made with godot + trenchbroom,

This is really cool. I wouldn't know where to start with something like this; I've often thought about playing with (3D) game development, but I feel like I might have missed the boat!

I'm 35 and have just been frantically learning for the last, like, five years.  I say frantically learning, but really it's just trying to make a game, suffering from way too high expectations for myself, and collapsing into depression for a while.  But I'm doing... Well I call it a game jam, but it's really just me deciding to get a world editor up and running through Godot Engine so I can show it to my family at christmas.  And then I'll gradually turn it into a game over time.  I figure it's never too late.  Even if you missed the boat, there are other boats.

But this level looks really cool!  Especially made with Trenchbroom, I really struggled with imagination in that toolkit.  I like the textures being big and clear.  It doesn't need to be realistic, I can tell exactly what everything is!  And that wall jumping mechanic was cool!

definitely not!! i teach game dev to both kids and adults, and even the most uninterested people can make something they think is cool. rip off your favorite games and just try anything :D (i would start with 2d tho if you haven't done much of that before)

i think that's a really great goal!! it is absolutely never too late to learn literally anything, unless you have a prion disease or something :4u: your family will be stoked to see you apply yourself to a goal and you'll come out more experienced no matter what happens. and who knows! maybe you'll get a game out of it?
