indie web graffiti wall! - ☆ ∙ Web Projects

i’ve always found densely-packed graffiti walls to be uniquely alluring. they’re essentially anonymous collaborative collages; you have no idea who left one piece and you’ll probably never know! it leaves you wondering who they are, what their story is, and what they meant behind the piece or message they left. they’re contrastingly permanent markers of our ephemeral humanity, they say “i was here once, even though i’m not now. please hold me in your memory for as long as you’re here too.”

so that made me think: what if indie websites had their own graffiti walls?

the indie web itself is a great big collage floating in the ether, and surfing it evokes the same feeling as looking at one of these walls (at least for me), so i thought it fit quite well!

i’m probably not the first person to come up with this, but it got me really excited. what i want to do is get people to make little doodles for me to add to a dedicated wall, and when a viewer visits the wall, they can click on a piece to visit the site of whoever made it! (it serves the same functional purpose as like, navlink ads or an 88x31 collection but with extra steps HAHA)

if you’d like to be included whenever i make this, follow these steps:

1.) doodle a message or design on your art program of choice, it can be as crude or as detailed as you want. make sure you save it as a transparent png! (canvas size doesn’t matter too much, but if it’s super tiny it might look crunchy in the final product.)
2.) send it here or email it to contact@robgarage.online
3.) i’ll add you to the wall yayyyyyy :D

- since my site is rated web-14, try to keep things appropriate for that age range! (crude dick drawings and swearing are fine but i won’t add anything like. egregiously sexually explicit lel)
- other than that go crazy :o)

if you’d like the doodle to link to your site or other personal page of yours, please include a link in your message! you can totally make it anonymous too, that is the mystique of real graffiti walls after all

i want to implement a way for people to submit pieces directly from my website eventually, but for now i just want to gather some to start with :~3
