ive seriously questioned if i have ocd cuz im very sure my mum has it. theres a chance i may but i think a lot of the stuff i was describing was amplified becuase i was in the worst mental state of my life. Im better now! just struggling with depression rather than severe anxiety.

chronophobia is still in my life a bit, ive just chosen to tell myself time doesnt exist and i can live in any year i feel like it XD

When someone tells a person with severe depression to "cheer up" without realizing that depresson is that you're physicallly unable to cheer up. It pisses me off because I've met depressed people (and one of them was my aunt after giving birth to my cousin (postpartum depression exists, y'all!)) and when someone does that it just pisses them off and only makes things worse in many cases. And that pisses me off because honestly? When you provoke someone with depression things could go...well, very badly.

I fucking hate this phrase so much. I see people say this about fictional women ALL THE TIME!!! And hell, even REAL women back when i used twitter!! People would ALWAYS comment that on womens' mugshots and EVEN ON A PHOTO OF THE WOMAN WHO DREW THE ASSETS FOR THE BORED APE NFTS!!!! It just shows that you don't give a shit about the nuances she has to her character (or even the fact that A REAL-WORLD WOMAN KILLED SOMEONE) and just see her as a thing you can fetishize.

I know that fictional characters don't have feelings, but as a woman myself: i hate the fact that some people see a woman acting even the SLIGHTEST bit assertive and start getting fantasies of "taming" her into THEIR ideals. I feel like it also kinda shares some DNA with calling people "fatherless" as an insult, just flat out saying that they should have a big strong man putting them in their place because they're acting SLIGHTLY weird. It's so misogynistic.

The phrases "for what it's worth" and "just for the record" use to piss me off since I was a kid lol no good reason other than it's over-used in children's media like Disney channel. They would pull it out in a dramatic, emotional scene but it was family channel or whatever so it never worked because the writing was so bad. Just annoying and frustrating.

I really hate it when people say "no offence but..." when they had the option of, y'know, not causing offence in the first place. Yes, "no offence but..." can be used in a genuine way, but nine times out of ten it seems to precede somebody saying something they know is offensive and that didn't actually need saying!

It's become a bit of a red flag warning to the start of a sentence, to me. Like if somebody starts with "I'm not racist, but..." or "Call me old-fashioned, but...". I'm sure that there exist sentences that start with those phrases that aren't offensive*, but that's probably not what I'm about to hear, right?

* Let's have a go at making non-offensive statements from those starting points, shall we? "I'm not racist, but... I know that some people are and I hate that?" "Call me old-fashioned, but... I still make all of my tools by flintknapping?"

In my country, "ideologically unemployed" has become a phrase lately. The incompetent government is accusing the people of being full of ideologically unemployed people because there is a big problem with employment, the highest unemployment rates in Europe. For some reason, they seem to be unable to do the math of what happens if there are 10x more job seekers than there are available jobs. Hint: no "ideological unemployment" is needed.

“nobody wants to work anymore”, as said by bosses and executives of typically companies with terrible work environments, bad pay, and no regard for employee health. no, idiots, we DO want to work! we just don’t want to be exploited; we want to earn enough for a good day’s work; we want to not be too tired to do anything else when we get off work. and who are you to say that nobody wants to work, when you get away with unprofessional behavior, reject job applications willy-nilly, lay off your employees with the hopes that chatGPT will do a better job than them (ugh, i’m gonna puke…), and even have the GUTS to say to your employees that they’re easily replaceable, or that there’s certain jobs that don’t deserve good pay? why even bother getting a job at all, then? you clearly don’t see us as humans, with thoughts, feelings, and dreams. we’re all just cogs in a machine, right? easily tossed out when we’re no longer of use to you? fine, then. enjoy the crashing and burning of your business through your incompetence and carelessness

In a similar vein, "sybau", especially when combined with "😂" and "hope that helps" in the context of twitter-like sarcasm. Those reek of social media toxicity along with many of the phrases in the aforementioned post. I just saw "sybau" in a youtube comment today and I felt like posting here.

I think that the modern internet has become so malformed by corporations that its affecting peoples speech patterns to match the things they watch, which in this case is media not made out of lover or community but purely for monetization and addictivity. Most youtube channels these days are owned by private equity and talent agencies which is why youtube videos suck now.
