my parents are huge fans of Fringe, a cult classic show by J.J. Abrams about FBI agents using fringe science to make sense of paranormal activities. me, i'm not much of an obscure sci-fi person; my favorite sci-fi titles are WALL-E and Cowboy Bebop, which are definitely not obscure

I've been watching a very bizarre and surreal show called Lexx. It first aired in '97 as a four part mini-series. This first season had some really unique and ambitious worldbuilding that is unlike any other sci-fi show I have seen.

The second season released in 2000 and is a more traditional episodic TV that you would expect. I am still on season 2 right now and I'm really digging it so far.

Lexx is a pretty bizarre show. Every episode is a different weird scenario. It's funny, dark, raunchy, surreal, and I love it. It also takes a lot of jabs at other sci-fi shows like Star Trek, and they are hilarious.

Created by James Cameron (!), came out in the year 2000 (!!), starring a young Jessica Alba (!!!) as a genetically engineered, very hot super-soldier turned runaway bicycle courier living in post-apocalyptic Seattle.

It's got soft cyber-punk energy.    Her best friend is a black lesbian called Original Cindy whose favourite TV show is Xena (how does that even make sense in the sci fi future? Like is Xena still airing? I think this is meant to be set in the year 2020!!).

I am rewatching it on DVD boxset RIGHT NOW ( on August 30th) and it's so good.
