I just got finished with Common Side Effects. Let me tell you, it's a generational show. :mark:

It follows a man, marshell, who found a mushroom that cures everything, even death. Around him are all of the players that should care, a former mushroo teacher in the woods, big pharma in the form of a specific mega company, an old highschool lab partner who works for the mega company, two dea agents, etc.

The show is so good due to the nuance and complexity of each of these players. The CEO of the mega company, who you would expect to be evil and conniving, is almost too stupid to be evil, but there is another player who knows of the mushroom within the company.

There is a lot of focus around both the fact that the pharmacudical industry is demonic in the United States but it does proveably save lives. There are a lot of players in the show who have varying information and varying motives.

My sell is a going to be a bit vague because there are so many twists and turns. But trust me, the show is amazing.

For those who watched it, discuss it below.  :ha:

i love common side effects
it's got a unique loose art style and like you said, the characters are all interesting
i'm curious to see how this all plays out in the next season, assuming there is one,
Spoiler
because it kinda ended on a cliff-hanger if i remember correctly

the ending was so good.

Spoiler
the best cliffhanger element is jonas overdosing and being in a constant hell dimension, and obviously the long term effects of the mushroom. I think adding that element of overdosing is something i never would have considered as a possible element of the story, but in retrospect it makes total sense. everyone is given a single mushroom to cure everything, of course there would be an overdose.

Yeye, the ending is very cleverly written. You can tell they put a lot of thought into this show.
