First off, everyone is safe and healthy!

But I was thinking, while I could go on in lenghty details about my experience of there being a fire in my place of residence,
I think it'd be more fun/ny if you guys ask me questions about it and I answer badly yet truthfully.

If that sounds fun to you too, ask away!

Jeez! I'm very glad to hear you're all safe.

Knowing that, I guess the first questions that come to mind is how much material loss there was. Was the whole building ruined and you have to move? Or was it something minor?

Did you lose any of your stuff? Did you have the moment in your head where you thought to grab one thing - the most important thing - when you ran out? That's always a common hypothetical but every person I've ever talked to who experienced this says that moment never actually happens. You brain just flips to full self-preservation mode and you just RUN.

I guess another question for most people would be what started the fire, but I feel like that always leads to assigning blame and the truth is accidents happen. Anyone can mess up in ways big and small.

How much material loss there was

One singular car, not ours. My bf and I had a bet it was an electric one, but turns out it was a standard SUV

Did you lose any of your stuff?

Luckily no!!! I live in a condo building in which fire spreads very slowly. I live on the 14th floor, and the fire was in the second basement. And! The firefighters got there SO quick. Im talking mere minutes. They got in under control basically instantly, the car was the only victim (and our legs, from the stairs)

Not quite? I actually didn't think it was a real alarm at first. Especially because the building is so big, I had to grab pants, bc I wasn't wearing any, and I grabbed my work laptop on the way out. "Ill just work outside" I tought. I did not.

HOWEVER!
We had a SECOND alarm THE VERY NEXT DAY. The anxiety of having left our cats upstairs last time was fresh af, so we packed them up that time. Luckily, it was a false alarm that time, and we were able to take the elevator on the way back.

what started the fire

I was actually hoping someone would ask that. They say it was a car, but I have insider information that a mischevious dragon-cat residing within the building would actually be to blame!!!
