imood ~ blast from the past

i have no one else to share this with lol but i tried to access my imood account to add it to my profile here. i got in easily and was surprised my account was still alive at all. i hadn’t updated my mood since 2003 ~ i can’t even fathom that this was 23 years ago.

there is almost nothing else that i am able to access anymore from back then so this is like a small time capsule even though i barely used it.

if you know of anything else like this that is still the same as back in the early 2000’s please share!

iMood is great, and omg that's an old account (my oldest is my neopets from 2005), do you remember how you found it back then? I'm glad you got it back! 

A few years ago the iMood dev (jcn) was in the Yesterweb discord server and I got to talk to him a bit; he seems like a really solid person who has consistently updated iMood in small ways over the years (he added mobile support a while ago), but has never done anything to alter the core feel of the site - I don't know why he does that, somehow despite all the tides of the web passing since 2001 he just keeps things simple, and its very admirable 

I suspect when all the big social media sites have imploded or been annexed as plutocratic ego projects; there will still be iMood, as fresh and green as the day it was born, and that gives me a good deal of comfort!

i  am honestly so stoked that devs like him still keep their creations alive without shifting to an insane money making scheme (lookin directly @ u photobucket).

as for remembering how i found imood. i don’t know lol. i was really into msn groups, browsing personal websites, and forums as a kid (wow not much has changed) so i suspect one of those linked me to imood but i don’t remember. at this age (11/12?) i spent my summer holidays learning html and thinking i was a web dev LOL. but i feel like imood was everywhere at the time.

i made my first ever email account when i was 9 so i could get a neopets account. i think it was in 2000? i had a paintbrushed chia but i didn’t remember my password and could never access it again. devastatingly, i made a new account just a few years later but that is when i remember playing the most. i never got s paintbrush ever again :| hahaha. sadly neopets has changed a bunch over the years and it pains me even just to look at the new graphics LOL.

alas, i am ready for social media to implode and for imood and forums to be king again. counting down the days. also, if the discord server is open to join ~ i would love to! send the link if it is <3 the space you have created online has inspired me so much, i joined this forum almost 2 years ago without participating, and all of the wild things that have been added tickle my brain in all the best ways. i feel like this space captures the essence of the wild wild web, but in a modern way that feels comfortable *round of applause*

i discovered imood from our very own melonland, actually! i saw it linked on some users' profiles, thought "what's imood?", and was surprised to learn that it's one of the oldest still-surviving social networks on the web. i couldn't believe it was older than facebook and twitter! and that, unlike those 2 sites, jcn has kept imood's soul the exact same, through thick and thin. i have much respect for him, and i hope he never abandons his principles

also, woah, that's an OOOLD link on your profile! MSN groups? you might want to update that with your current neocities site hehe

Somehow, this is making me want to sign up for imood. I've seen it on profiles and websites and figured I don't really need it, since I already have status.cafe... but it could still be nice to have. Even if it's just to link it to my melonland account. I didn't know it's been around for that long!
