Personally, I feel like music was more memorable a few years ago. Maybe I'm just nostalgic, but does anyone else feel the same way?

Hard to tell. I would say - yes? I feel like it was easier for me to find good music when I was younger. And I feel like music was just better in the past.

**BUT**, and that's big but. It's probably not true, and music is just different.

This may very well be attributed to the fact that I'm old, and brain just likes familiar things. This is a bit contradictory to the fact that brain also likes novelty, lol.

Things get a bit sad the older you are. You can't listen to old things you liked because brain like novelty and old songs get you bored quicker. But on the other hand you can find anything new because brain like familiar stuff xD Like what the hell brain?!

I mean, sure, I still listen to old tracks from when I was a teen. And I still can find a gem I will like very much. But I get bored faster, and I discard much more new bands/songs than I used to. It all shrinks. When I was younger I practically listened to something constantly - even when working. Nowadays I pick silence more and more

Don't know if that's the way life is, or if that's something somewhat unique to me.

But I just discovered Noa Gruman vocalist, so I can't really complain xD Now I will listen to it until I start to hate it lol.

I dont know. Some bands I follo have made new songs that sound memorable to me. Not alotta old songs make it unless they are from my favorite bands.

Maybe it has to do with accessing so much music on the Internet that makes us bored easier. For me, I dedicate time to lissening to an album before finding good songs from it. Having the listening experience tied to a physical object sorta helps with focusing on what's memorable.

Also, our interests end up changing anyway. We cycle thru music quick when there are no barriers to doing so.

I think that when it comes to the mainstream music and one you hear on the radio, this is for sure true. A lot of the music from the English sphere doesn't sound as interesting as it used to be before, which is a bit sad. You used to hear a lot of nice stuff on the radio and could even understand why it was popular even if you didn't like it personally. I have found in interesting that I've been reaching a lot more for the local music not in English for the first time in general, as a lot of the popular music that was not made before I was born for the longest time was not very good, both in the writing and the sound (at least in my personal opinion).

Though I've always listened to more alternative music, I've found most stuff there to still have something interesting depending on the release (can't always have a banger song or album, sometimes you have a miss). I've generally been happy with the music I've been listening to.

Songs took a lot more effort back then, from my understanding. That combined with the lack of fast internet allowing for streaming any audio file with ease, meant you actually had to pick and choose which songs get to stay on an album, and pick and choose even further which of those get played on the radio. This meant what radio considered popular music was actually handpicked, rather than just whatever song is trending online at the time.
I don't know, radio still has pretty good songs on it sometimes. A lot of it also annoys me. It's a mixed bag, I suppose that's always going to be the case with these types of things.
