Hi all! I think this is my first time properly making a thread to share something I made that I'm proud of... so I'm a little nervous! But I'm gonna do it anyway!
Earlier this year, The Internet Archive and WNYC hosted the 2026 iteration of the Public Song Project. Basically, you lift something from the public domain and make a song about it. And I chose Last Leaf, the short story by O. Henry about sickly lesbians and the healing power of human creativity. Because of course I did!
The song... did not win anything.

Not even a mention in the WNYC radio special! But honestly, I'm still really proud of how it turned out. My bandmates helped with some additional vocals and production, and the end result feels very cozy and hopeful. So I wanted to share it here!
Also, if anyone knows what genre you'd call something like this, do clue me in! I've just been calling it synthpop/bedroom pop lol. Or if anyone has any questions/wants to talk shop about the songwriting and production stuff, I'm always happy to. Honestly though if all you did was read this and maybe give the track a listen then thank you for that!!
