Hello class, this is a show & tell section! Share something you love and tell everyone about it!


This is my Roman bowl! It was a gift from my dad a few years ago. Its modern, but its made of the same materials, and uses the same process as an original bowl from ancient Rome - and the pattern on it from an original roman pottery template. (They used to premake templates and press clay into them to form a pattern in seconds, so these were mass-produced)

Im not really sure what its theme is - It got goats on it and a dude holding either a captured bird or objects with wings on it (Possibly the winged scandals of Hermies from Greek myth) - Romans used to put greek gods on their stuff the same way we put super heroes and pokemon on our stuff.

At any rate; I like it because it was a great gift, and because it's a crazy time warp! It's new but it's old - I use it and experience it exactly the same way as someone 2000 years ago would have, and how someone 2000 years from now will. That makes me feel both mortal but also comforted

I present to you: a jar of knitted pickles.

It was a gift from my best friend and it serves no functional purpose apart from sitting on my shelf and being a joy to look at every time when I go by. I don't even think about it much, but whenever someone asks to show them an object I love I immediately think of these guys. They're so silly. With them googly eyes.
