I guess if we're all somewhat into alternative culture already, it'd be fun if we'd share our local artists here too!

That could be people you know personally, random gigs from your pub and the town over, or even your own music.

I'll start:

This isn't exactly specifically my own town or anything but I hung around with people who are also in her social circle:

Tags: Rap, Hip Hop, German

And this guy is actually secretly my history and politics professor in real life which is really hilarious because his second identity is "communist rapper".

Very interesting topic, as someone from Denver it's my firm belief that local musicians and bands always go underrated and underappreciated, and most of them are just as talented as the big leagues. Recently I've become interested in music journalism, and as a result I've attended several local music events so as to mingle with the crowd and discover some of the current talent. I've started a video series where I interview these local groups and ask them interesting questions about their career:

Attending one of these events is great, and they certainly showcase a wide variety of figures from all sorts of genres and backgrounds. Of course, only being familiar with the Denver scene, I can't say if these is the case nationwide, or how prevalent these sorts of events are, though I would definitely suggest getting into them if you value artistic integrity and scintillating conversation.

As for me, I believe documenting these bold audio pioneers is an important task, and one I conduct with honor. It is a privilege to stand in the presence of the icons of the future.

I just found this band from Edmonton today and have been listening to them all morning. If you like psychobilly and ska, Raygun Cowboys offer both!

Double post, but I wanted to share Ouda Ouda, who was actually my coworker's boyfriend. I met him at the corporate Christmas party in 2016 and he was a really nice guy, but he passed away last year. His music is pretty great if reggae is your thing.

I'm from Pittsburgh. There's this super obscure indie artist from my hometown called Jack Staub-

Jokes aside tho I'm not into enough of the online local culture to put much here. That being said, if you're ever in Pittsburgh, check out literally any locally produced play! The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust runs a lot of cool local art things they're just mostly in person. Downtown has a lot of galleries, and I'd personally suggest you at least try and check out SPACE, cause IIRC it has the least weird hours of all the downtown things.

There are a couple of artists from around here that I know
Hoppie Vaughan and the Ministers of Soul; I recorded some of their music a bit ago!

Lords of Malice: This is a metal band from Lynchburg, I think my dad knew the founder of this band

Don't mind if I do!

In no particular order...

+ Haleluya Hailu
Really great pop up-and-comer. Catchy and enjoyable, which is saying a lot because I don't usually enjoy this style. :]

+ Kylie V
Another neat pop up-and-comer, a bit more melancholic and reflective. I pretended to play bass in their latest music video!

+ Fairything (yeah, me, haha, hope that's fine!)
I'm a little weirdo that plays Omnichord and makes sparkly bedroom bitpop. My latest release is a Moomins fansong I put on a Pride EP for some bookish songwriters!

+ Punching Knives
I dunno how to describe this group, I just think they're super cool.
