I believe this one is considered the "first" ever music video filmed in 1965
Subterranean Homesick Blues by Bob Dylan

And one it recently inspired:

I love the music video for Thunderdome USA by Messiah. Its like the MOST 90s music video ever. Its got like a cyberpunk techno-dystopia rebel feel with a lot of clips of anime and space satellite footage interspersed within, plus loads of dark blue everything with spinny 3d graphics.
I first heard it on Roblox in 2018 on this game called Club Raven. I'd walk in the anti-gravity room vibing to this song and it got very stuck in my head. This year, I'd been thinking about the song and what it was called because all I could remember was the guy screaming "THUNDERDOME!!!" Well I was browsing happy hardcore music and I found a playlist of someones drawing music, and I clicked the song, and I was hit with SO MUCH NOSTALGIA and it totally came back to me. Now as an 18 year old I have it stuck in my head once again.  :dive:
Spoiler
The video has this story about these rebels on New Years 2000 breaking into the Messiah TV compund to stop Project Thunderdome, which will thrust the world into 3d virtual worlds in a fascist takeover. They break in, and the compound and their satellites are alerted to their presence, so they unleash the Swarmcam, their satellite-enabled surveillance system to spot them. The guards attack them, and we also see the station's broadcasting of subliminal messages in a very seizure warning kinda scene. And then there are these girls that show up on the TVs saying "see me hear me feel me love me touch meeeee" beckoning for you to put on your datasuit and join them in cyberspace. Then theres a clip from some 80s anime where a water girl kisses this guy and then it zooms out super fast from this girl into space and its trippy. Then there are the girls still beckoning you to come see them.
Spoiler
and then... something im not allowed to describe in this forum. Just know, I think it kills the vibe a bit and I would've not put those in there if i was the editor. Im talking about the USA version of the music video specifically. If you want something a little safer for work, there are 2 cuts of the music video for the EU market, and I do have them both; one is on Facebook and the other (more common) one is on Youtube and aired on MTV PartyZone, but the facebook one is more interesting.

Anyways, we see the guards take out the rebels with tazers, and then theres an 80s punk looking video segment called "APPROPRIATION" and it has snippets of skateboarding, the sex pistols, political figures in B&W, pop art, and whatever else, and then a bunch of hindu imagery and some trippy invert effects, and it shows "199x, Tokyo" and then we see the TVs flash imagery of pretty canyons and a countdown to New Years Eve, and when it hits zero, that girl hits the high note and it sucks into the cyberworld. The rebels are knocked out on the pavement, and it says "PROJECT THUNDERDOME MISSION ABORT" meaning they've failed, and Y2K is coming. It ends with them unplugging the satellite and a clip of a guy talking about the shockwave of eschatology, and the end of time resetting the world.

If this video isn't the most 1990s thing I've ever described, I dunno what is. Since the video is kinda obscure, it's usually available as VHS captures on Youtube, Facebook, and the Internet Archive (where the Telegenics uncensored version is). The clean copy sometimes shows up on MTV PartyZone as I said before. If you can find a clean HQ version, nay, get your hands on one, I wanna see it uploaded because there isnt one without a watermark online in HQ as far as I know. The uncensored USA version has the best music and visuals IMO but, again, the vibes, at least my vibes, get killed halfway through by that random scene. I might try making my own special cut to fix that.

Anyways, heres the links if u wanna check it out!

EU Cut 1 (the more interesting but lower quality one)

EU Cut 2 (the less interesting but higher quality one)

Edit: I uploaded a remaster of the USA cut onto the Internet Archive!

Unsuprisingly I'm gonna talk about music videos for pony songs cuz i'm biased and a loserrr :ok:

First is My Love is a Quickscope by Vylet Pony, literally so peak I absolutely love that like a billion different artists contributed to this one video its so epiccc  yknow a music video is good when it only came out 3 months ago and u already start to get nostalgic when u rewatch it

Next we got Dragons aren't Supposed to be 2 B Cute, Right? by Cats Millionaire, this one is significantly chiller when compared to the previous video but its just as good, it's crazy how theres still vids nowadays that try to fit the same aesthetic these kinds of videos had from back in the day, love it sm

Take on me - AHA

Aha - Take on me. The mix of animation and video and how they play with perspectives is just awesome.

Break Free - Queen

Of course Break Free from Queen. In the 80s, this has been controversial!

Enter Sandman - Motörhead

Because everybody needs someone to watch over them when evil is coming

Subterranean Homesick Blues by Bob Dylan

I love Bob Dylan and that video has and will be an classic 4ever! :D I really love the way that you can just like feel the rawness and history in that video, there's like no glossy sheen or post-production wizardry going on, no calculated cheography or shot planning, just a dude and a bunch of signs in an alleyway LOL. Very true to Bob Dylans music ya know... :P

Anyways, here's one of my favorite music video's from one of my favorite bands, THE DO DO DO'S!

Hold me baby, kiss!kiss!kiss! -  THE DO DO DO's

I absolutely LOVEEEE how raw and DIY this video feels, it genuinely feels like (and probably is) just a couple of close friends goofing around to some fun music they made, it's so freaking nostalgic! Also the video so perfectly reflects the feeling of the music, like this raw optimist nostalgic punk-ey vibe AHHH i love it so much, it really just sounds like hanging out with friends on an hot summer day ya know! Their music reminds me a lot of like 60's-70's punk combined with surf rock, very lo-fi and happy and yeah! >w< I love this music video and this song. :D
