The MelonLand minecraft server is now open! It runs on MC v1.5.2 (retro from 2013) - you can connect using any modern launcher (Install 1.5.2 not 1.15.2!!), but there is also a recommended setup described on the wiki page: https://wiki.melonland.net/minecraft (to get build access just enter your MC username on your forum profile!)

You can also download the recommended server texture packs here: Jolicraft or JohnSmithLegacy

General Rules are not to be a jerk, try not to spoil the view for anyone and have an enjoyable time!

Ahh, the process of trying to get and stay connected to a server is just as jank as I remember :,O)

The hub is very cute, by the way. Even if I only got to explore it for 5 seconds.

I keep trying to join using 1.15.2 on the official Minecraft client and I continue to run into this message :(

"Internal Exception: java.io.IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"

Thanks, it turned out to be a really great first day once the crashing was fixed! I was very iffy about using such an old minecraft version at first.. but the limitations are actually really growing on me; I liked the simpler era of MC; also it feels like we're sticking it to the man by using a pre-microsoft build 

I guess this might be the last serious 1.5.2 server setup anyone ever does  Or maybe we are gonna start the Minecraft Revival and everyone will start making their own outdated servers

It's already a thing since a while

I found the GoldenAge reddit when I was researching.. but I have to be honest.. I ran servers back in beta minecraft.. and I thought it was bad! The maps were ugly, it had lost the charm of Alpha; the features were clunky and the server plugin scene was very under developed So I find it a little confusing that people are into that era of the game - but Im also well aware I tend to have an unusual opinion on most things like that.

Minecraft is a bit like Pokemon.. I learned the first 150.. then I forgot about the rest for a while; then the Ruby Saphire era was great.. and then they just added too much!
