Like, of course it looks black and blue if you just look at it at face value, but since there's lighting behind it and the picture quality is so low, the brain connects the dots and lets you know the colors are likely distorted and its white and gold in reality.

Same! It's totally white and gold for me, but I really have to think to see black and blue.

It's always looked clearly blue and black to me, I was always confused why people thought otherwise tbh, because I never once seen white or gold.

i've NEVER been able to see the dress any other color than white and gold  :TnT:  :TnT: i don't know how other people can see the black and blue so clearly. the bright backgrund confuses me so much

i cannot see this dress as white and gold. no amount of squinting or explanation of the lighting creating an optical illusion can make me see this dress as anything other than blue and black. the dress was confirmed to be blue by the original manufacturer, but even if it was white, in the original photo, that lighting would not cause a bright white and gold dress to look dark blue and black like that. it might look slightly blueish if it were in shadow, but the lighting in that store would not cast THAT dark a shadow on the entire dress. it doesn't even look white and gold in that picture of the lady wearing it in the sunny window!

I've seen it white and gold *and* blue and black on different occasions, while other people looking at the same picture contradicted me. I got no idea what's going on and I'm not sure I even want to know.

I read the Wikipedia article on the dress once out of curiosity, and even scientists have no definite explanation for why people see the dress differently.

Well then, scientists must not know about lighting! It's a simple lighting trick, with some color theory mixed in. In real life (skip to 2:41), the dress is blue and black. But lighting, and the way that something is shot, changes how something can look. The people who see white and yellow are not accounting for the lighting, but the people who see blue and black are accounting for it.

Even WITH a guide image I still see only gold and white. It's just impossible for me to wrap my brain around even though I know for certain that it's black and blue now :P
