I keep a media log and have a section for each major type of media I consume (Books, Movies, TV, etc) and a "Slice of Life" directory I put everything else in. Usually I write about whatever comes to mind, though I try to avoid anything too personal or "intense" since I wouldn't want to lose opportunities from someone connected to me IRL reading it. I also don't keep a schedule at all since I'm often very busy IRL, and I don't want to obligate myself to write when I'm not feeling it.

at first when i started a blog i wasnt actually sure what i wanted to put on it but as time went on i realised that the best thing to put on it are my goals and my progress toward my personal goals.

i dont think anyone else reads them and it’s more than enough if i am the only one that frequents my blog

I blog about things that come into my mind that are blog worthy. Sometimes i will write some snippets that i later might use to write a blogpost.
Most of the subjects are about the internet, and the fediverse.

Recently i wrote a blogpost on a install of GEM running on top of a virtual dos machine. The latest post about forums was written in Office 3.0 running on Windows 3.11.
The former blogpost was about finding a distraction free writer for blogposts.

i just like how much text i can have in a blog on my own site.
probably the most common thing i write in my own blogs are probablyy weird ideas or infodumps, or weird dreams i have  :dive:

There isn't a set topic in my blog section, it ranges from life updates to random topics that have been stuck in my mind for ages. Writing blogs made me realise I like rambling way more than I thought, it is so fun to write when it is not for homework!

Looking back in my past blog topics, some of them are quite interesting, like thinking about the meaning of twinkle twinkle little star, my strange phobias, and the games I enjoyed as a kid. I sometimes write about what recently have happened in my life, I don't like writing about sad stuff though, venting feels a bit good, but I don't like reading them in the future (I sometimes read my old blogs).

I tend to try and write a blog entry when I have some big idea that I want to get across to people. The issue with that is I cant write about it until I feel its fully formed in my mind (that can take months). Then the problem is that once you start to write you realize the idea is a lot less formed than you thought!

This is actually a problem I sometimes get into. There are topics I found interesting, but then when I write it, it is only two paragraphs long! I probably throw away the draft and save the topic for the future.

Lately I don't blog as much, stress tends to block my creativity... Or maybe I have yapped so much, I am running out of things to say?

At the moment, I had used DreamWidth as a general "here's what's been going on" whereas most of the time I end up microblogging on other sites. For me, the problem with blogging isn't that I don't have the interest in doing so - it's that I forget about it a whole lot. I'm more accustomed to the idea of what Tumblr and Pillowfort already do. With one being less trustworthy and the other I'm afraid of it not getting the proper funding (wish I was able to but I can't and end up sharing to a small amount of folks that do follow), I just don't have that much in me for longer posts most of the time.

I do have to give Dreamwidth the credit for the ability to submit entries via email as that helps a whole lot in working on it a bit at a time... Although I could do better at actually remembering to make a post once in a while!  :drat:

I had done some posts that were game reviews and some that were just "State of the mental health" kind of ordeal. In some ways, I rather do it that way than have a built in blog for the website especially since I have both Nekoweb and Neocities when the latter was trying to introduce an AI helper and everyone lost their crap over it (for good reason, nonetheless).

I've been working on a series I call the Online Survival Guide which talks about netiquette, online safety, personal websites, escaping social media, and generally just sort of a "how to stop being chronically online" guide. Outside of that, I've written blogs about personal stuff and site updates, many of which have been deleted from my site because I found them cringy and not important enough to leave up hah. They're all still on the Internet Archive since I have a plugin that archives every page I go to if it hasn't already been archived within 24 hours, so it's not ~lost media~ or anything :ok:

In the future, I'm going to have several "blogs" throughout sections of my site, mostly reviews about concerts, albums, bands and art/artists (maybe some about other media like video games, shows, or manga). I tried doing album reviews way back in the early days of the website, but I didn't enjoy it too much because I felt like I was being too Anthony Fantano about it. I abandoned the idea until recently, when I saw my friend Lydels post album of the month reviews on her site and it was more casual and there were no numbers involved or anything. It opened my eyes and reminded me what personal sites are for. I shouldn't be too formal all the time on there, it's literally just my website, I can allow myself to show my personality beyond the way it looks and the contents of its pages.
