Melon, you asked what is my favorite norse object. There are some pretty cool objects in norway, but "Nordic LARP" refers to a style of LARP, not a specific setting.
This is a good intro to and definition of Nordic Larp. Even so, my favorite Norse Object is Skíðblaðnir, a mythical ship that could carry whatever you wanted and go wherever you wish, and when not in use could be folded and put into your pocket like a handkerchief. What's yours?
Democratic Sckools are the coolest! The highest level of admin in our (less than 100 person) school is a democratic body called the School Meeting, where every Staff and Student gets one vote in all matters. Hiring and Firing Staff, Student Conflict Resolution, Student Suspension or Expulsion, Fund Allocation, Setting Tuition, Setting Staff Salaries, anything and everything else goes through this body or a delegation of this body.
There are no mandatory classes (thats the "free" part), and if you want a specific higher level class, usually you have to create one with your friends. If you'd like an instructor (on a subject that isn't covered by existing staff), you can go to school meeting for the funds to hire one. Usually at the beginning of such classes, everyone agrees on necessary requirements for continued attendance, "no more than 2 unexcused absences" etc.
