sounds a lot like tinycore, which is what i use! thanks for sharing something i hadn't heard before.

Nice! If you like TC then I think you'll get along with FD too. It's built from LFS and takes some ideas from Puppy Linux such as using aufs for layering with some other homegrown tools.

Recently switched to Asahi Fedora remix, which is a collaboration project between Asahi and Fedora to port the distro over to apple silicon, and i've been loving it so far, it's somewhat hard to use linux with a mac keyboard and i'm still in the process of migrating all of my tools and apps from macOS but it's going quite smoothly.

I'm on OpenSuse for at least 13 years now. Can heavily recommend; it works, offers a stable enough rolling release (that saves you the trouble of upgrading), comes with a handy UI for all system controls, but doesn't try to limit you when you do things your own way.

My only concern with OpenSUSE is that EQT Group could eventually decide not to fund the project as much. As it is they are getting rid of Leap which I preferred as a fully stable OS.

It came to my attention that they were overtaken, but I just hope that it won't affect the usability of the system - if it does, I will probably change to Fedora (or maybe even Debian, but their software is always so old!).

I know, but there are situations. Lately I tried to compile my new game with my old stable Debian I use for backward-compability; didn't work out, as features that I used weren't included by then in the Debian SDL; and I had such situations when I used it as main Distro as well. Well - I guess I'm a bleeding-edge-guy.

That makes sense. I could see you needing up-to-date libraries for game dev. Do you use Godot to make them?

SDL2 :).
Usually it works out as I use only very basal functions - but in this case, I used a more recent add on to the library.

Oh, right! I missed that you said SDL above. That's great that you're going down to that level - very cool.

Personally I've stuck with Windows on my main PC because a lot of the art/editing software I use aren't compatible with Linux - removing bing search and a couple other things makes the experience a bit more tolerable; though I think I'm just used to it at this point.

I've been using Mint on my work laptop for the last couple years but I've been looking at changing distros due to issues with bluetooth, and display functionality on multiple monitors.
I was considering ubuntu, but going through this thread I might try some of the ones mentioned before deciding.

Put EndeavourOS on my Dell Latitude E5450 a month ago. Replaced a somewhat trashed installation of windows.

I must say, it works very well. Even at my daytime activity where we do a lot of research to apps and gadgets.

Installed Libreoffice, thunderbird, firefox.

Also installed Virtualbox with a Windows 10 VM, just in case. But it was not needed yet.

And with only ~10GB of storage for a full install  :chef:
