Should archivists get rid of 'unsavory' content?

The purpose of archival is not to endorse or necessarily promote certain types of art or views, it is about preserving an accurate picture of the past in both its good and bad parts before it can be forgotten or intentionally erased. Even really heinous, full on hateful media has worth when archived because it allows people in the future to understand the full extent of hatred and the "logic" behind those that perpetrated it, so that they can spot similar patterns and issues in their own lives with more clarity. As a very extreme example that's not proportionate to online dollmakers, a lot of neo-Nazis in the 1900s were against the archival of certain Nazi records because it meant they couldn't downplay the holocaust as a hoax or pretend it wasn't a genocide. Archival work isn't about just preserving what you like or agree with, it's about your ability to be honest with the future about what the past and your own time was actually like to live through.
