Accessible Net, my directory focused on improving accessibility on the indie web, is up and running!

A couple of websites are already up, so feel free to check those out (including mine). If you're interested in joining but aren't sure if your site meets the requirements, we have a list of guidelines and lots of resources! I would love any feedback anyone has as well.

This is great, and thanks for the resource section. As a CSS newbie a lot of these are things I didn't even know were possible. I'll be sure to go through the tutorials when I have time and slowly make my site more accessible   :dive:

Yoooooo!!! this is super cool!

The resource list seems lovely, I will definitely be using that to make my site better. especially the ones about adding alt text and making the site responsive (hopefully I can make my site stop acting weird on my phone).

Wonderful initiative. Whether one becomes a member or not, the guidelines serve as a pretty good checklist for accessibility.

I've been meaning to apply, I was surprised to find the guide I wrote there (I'm planning on rewriting it TBH...). In regards to dark/light mode, does it count if my website has it set so it matches the user's settings? I'm no good at JS, at least for now, and I just couldn't get any guides to work...

I believe that counts! As long as there's some way for the user to adjust it, it's good. In the guidelines it says specifically "For this reason it is good practice to allow people to view your site in reversed contrast, or alternatively, to have a dark/light mode version of your site built into your css." The latter would be having it set up so it matches the user's settings.

yep! it counts. as a rule i don't require that anyone use anything other than HTMLCSS, javascript options are like a neat bonus, but because javascript can break or be disabled, i consider it a secondary solution to most things.
