A Sudden Burst in Views!?!?

I just checked out Neocities this morning and I discovered something unusual: I received 6507 views yesterday, which was far beyond the average of around 700-1000 views I get daily. How is this possible!?

Does Neocities list referrals, or just page visits? Also, I'd be curious to see if this is one specific page, or just your site overall. I'm not with Neocities, so I've never seen their analytics, but I use one called Motomo, and although the referrals aren't totally reliable, they usually give me a general idea of where stuff is coming from.

Without more details it's hard to say what is happening. It could be just bots but it could also be someone has put a link to your pages somewhere and it's become popular.

Places like SEO Review Tools and ahrefs will attempt to find where your site is listed at.

I'd attribute it to the Algorithm, but there is none to blame!

As a side note, I've seen people cast doubts on the validity of Neocities's hit counter in the past since it tends to be so much higher than traditional hit counters. I'm not entirely sure what's with that, but in my experience that tends to be true.
