A friend of mine is having a baby! And since handmade blankets are an important staple in my family, crocheting a blanket feels like a perfect gift.

Here is my progress so far:

I am using a hand dyed yarn from a local store (75% superwash merino and 25% nylon...aka very soft!!!). I think it's a bit washed out in the pictures I took, but it's a white yarn with splashes of pink, dark indigo, goldenrod, and dark teal green. It reminds me of funfetti cake.

I'm using a basic granny square pattern but instead of crocheting individual squares I'm just repeating the pattern over and over until it's at an appropriate size. At the moment it's 12 x 13 inches!

As I make more progress, I'll update this thread! In the meantime, is anyone else working on any crochet, knit or sewing projects? I'm curious!

So cool!!!! I've never done crocheting but so many of my friends do it, I'd love to give it a try sometime. This is such a cute project!! I'll have to keep something like this in mind as a potential gift for my next niece or nephew. I also love the funfetti yarn.

This looks very soft and cozy! I've made several crochet blankets and they are just the best for cuddling up under. I'm sure the recipients will love it!

Ooooh that is so cute and I love that calm color!  :loved:  I think it's a perfect gift. Blankets are so useful, and hand crafted ones are so special ;___;
