Recently, Strange Aeons released a video about
Blingee and web nostalgia. Not only did I think this was relevant to a lot of us here on the forum, but it made me think of the hobby of creating glittery images. While the original Blingee site is difficult to get into, the craft lives on in a more accessible form on a site called
Picmix.
Something I also find interesting is the culture. It seems split in userbase demographic. There are older people in their 60s and 70s, provided the profile information is accurate, and a younger demographic of teens and 20s. The older side prefers uncanny, cartoony, almost AI rendered images while younger folks seem to do fan edits with heavy LGBT themes.
Regardless, I'm glad this site exists to preserve an aspect of the old internet, because I find it very cathartic as a craft!
I'd like to see the stuff people on the forum have made, if you're interested, and even share your accounts if you have them.
