Hi everyone 

Just introducing myself whilst I find my way around... name's Darren and I'm a 40-something Gen-X from the UK, looking to make a small corner of the internet my own, in a completely old-school personal internet way!

I was there when it all started and remember it well - I was one of those people who never got quite around to having a proper homepage or learning HTML and had a permanent "Under Construction" page      and watched the sad demise of proper internet communities, first of all in IRC and UseNet and then later in forums like these - so refreshing to see a properly active forum of like minded people 

I've now just started learning HTML/CSS properly so no doubt I'll be asking you all lots of daft questions in due course.

Other hobbies include gaming (mostly tabletop (love Battletech and RPGs!), but also a little video gaming), electronics (badly - I'm a beginner), Python (even more badly - again, beginner), astronomy, hackspace/makerspace activities, amateur radio, flying remote controlled aircraft, bonsai, reading, photography, and hiking/being outdoors - always happy to chat about any of these!

Welcome! It's interesting to meet someone older, as someone in my early 30's. I'm quite used to being the oldest one in the room at times. (I hope you don't take this as an insult, I'm just interested!!)

Also bonsai is an interesting hobby! I'd love to see some of the plants you've cultivated!

I've not grown one from scratch/seed yet (that's difficult next level stuff) but buy a tree when it's young and looking after to get it is amazing as possible (and not killing it - easy to do if you aren't careful when first starting out).
