I still use good ol' MS Paint, the old Windows XP version. It has absolutely no features and that's what I love about it. Left click = colour, right click = background and I almost exclusively use the line tool. If/when I want to fine-tune the colours I open the image in Photoshop.

Ah yes, good old pixel art that look like Little Timmy made it on Windows XP! (Positive)

i mostly just use KDE Kolourpaint (like MS Paint but for GNU/Linux and etc) for it since it's familiar enough and not a nightmare like Photoshop, GIMP, or Krita are. i just prefer how simple it is..

like, i can do some art with it, it's not looking like a doodle usually. but usually Kolourpaint is for shitposts like the modified camerupt sprite that i attached.
it's also great for me when i wanna just do little touchups to some things. like move a couple pixels away or pick a colour's HEX code or something.

if i myself make pixel art from scratch on it, i can make some G/S/C-esque sprites, but not radioactive colours. i did modify a sprite of the player-character from Platinum though, and i think they turned out well even tho i only used KP :P

Currently I use Aseprite, after seeing it recommended by many Stardew Valley pixel artists. It's very intuitive to use

Before, however, I used Pixelorama, which took me a while to figure out because it had so many functions, but it's decent as well.

I used Adobe Photoshop on my school computer to draw a character sprite sheet for my school project back in 2022. I like how my character sprite sheet turned out and I think Adobe Photoshop is pretty good for it.  :ha:

I used to use Piskel many years ago when I used to do sprites of Sonic, but ever since I switched to using Linux I use, or well used to use LibreSprite. I got tired of it crashing whenever I wanted to open more than two files at a time (since LS is an old version of AS iirc), so eventually I switched to Aseprite. While I don't do any sort of custom sprites or pixel art like I used to, it's been instrumental in getting graphics for my site and other things done. Very useful and versatile.

I'm the little freak that uses pixilart.com. I'd like to try an actual art program at some point, but I don't do pixel art too often, so I haven't really had a use for one yet. pixilart.com is simple, free, has all the tools I've needed, and that's about all there is to say on the matter!

everyone else using dedicated apps, popular well-known apps, or dedicated websites for pixel art
and then me who uses an MS Paint clone.

okay look i don't care for spending money on a dedicated program okay? i just find it kinda funny.

we should make a ring specifically for those who use MS Paint, KolourPaint, JS Paint, and Paint.NET /hj
