Things you find fun ??

I started making a list of things I find fun and I though it would be cool to see everyone else list too! What are things you find fun (try to be specific!)

• Weird 3d world - the weirder the better
• Tie-dye but totally broken so it looks like it bloodstained
• Bad webdesign that hardly works
• Obscure tech projects and making do with cheap hardware
• Going on a hike and feeling free from the world
• Making silly Zorbs and not worrying about time
• Buying unnecessary things like Polaroid film
• Letting go of things you don’t really need like tech and boxes
• Getting to know someone and discovering unexpected things
• Listening to music thats not very good but makes you feel good
• Sitting on the floor eating a burger and milkshake while watching 80s action movies
• Cooking a great meal even when there are only random leftover ingredients
• Archiving whole youtube channels and knowing they are mine forever

Some stuff I find fun:

• Gushing about interests with a friend, especially if we haven't done this yet. It's SO fun to see your friends talk so so passionately about things they care about and I get to learn and appreciate more things!
• Laying on the floor listening to music either through my record player or my tape deck. For me it just feels...right.
• Looking at and semi-collecting old Tabletop Role-Playing Game (TTRPG) books. I used to be somewhat of a Dungeons & Dragons historian for a while but I've lost my edge. Still have a lot of the books tho! As well as some non-D&D books.
• Making lil tunes here and there. Nothing fancy, just more to be able to say "I created something!" and guitar is something I can use to do that!
• Going through file dumps from old BBSes on DOSBox. You find some neat things in there! (Once I found a BBS user's band playing a nirvana cover through Audio Recorder for Windows! It was dated April 12, 1995 from 2:27 - 3:18 AM .)
• Taking artsy polaroid and digicam pictures specifically because I would want the picture as an album cover. Nothing gets me in a picture taking mood then daydreaming about potential album covers for music I might make one day.
• Watching skateboard videos! This one's sorta new, sorta not. I've always been interested in skateboarding but I have a hard time going from "being interested in it" to "actually diving into it" (with anything, not just skateboarding.)

I have a very specific one for this!

The crossover of traditional music from third world countries and the addition of the keyboard. The keyboard, with all its settings, introduces sounds and effects that originally were not in the genre and can sound quite funny. There are some good examples out there where the keyboard is infused tastefully into existing genres, and others where it results in tacky hilariousness. It's a joy for me to explore genres and find examples of this.

This is very weird, to be sure, but...

saying passive-aggressive sayings to myself in the mirror.

"I'm so glad you felt the need to say that out loud!"
"That is such a brave idea."
"You are so confident for doing something like that!"

And so on. I'd never say them to anyone else, of course, but I think they're hysterical!

- going out and touching grass
- learning about new things
- reading books
- going to amusement parks in general (falls under touching grass)
- building websites
- playing games
- creating wacky things, like HexClock or something.
- watching videos on youtube
- talking to people via discord or melonland forums preferably.

-sitting in a 2nd storey or higher window and watching people down below
-smiling at strangers and occasionally getting the treat of a reciprocated smile
-finding random websites. usually passion projects that go unnoticed because of their obscure topics
-collecting wrappers for snacks i like and scrapbooking with them
-going late night shopping with friends
-hoarding loads of stickers and putting them on every surface possible
-looking at dvds in thrift stores and pointing out movies i like to my friends
-sitting outside and listening to cicadas. bonus points for finding shells. extra bonus points for finding live cicadas in grabbing range
-buying cheap games ive never heard of at secondhand game stores and seeing how fun they really are. introduced me to a fun fashion game for the ds called pop cutie. also had me discover that mario vs donkey kong (the mini mario one for the ds) has a despicable me reskin which is also on the ds. its really funny. exact same gameplay but with minions.

theres so much joy to find in daily life that i could keep going on xD

a little while back my therapist asked me what things bring me joy or what i find fun and i couldn't think of anything, even though there are a lot of things that i like to do which i find fun and joyful. it's helpful to make a list sometimes, i think! 

here are some things that are fun for me   


• going to thrift stores with my friends and holding up ugly pieces of clothing and trying to come up with ideas for who would wear it
• tidying things up so they're arranged by color (books, craft supplies, M&Ms...)
• solving killer sudoku
• giving randomly-generated sims makeovers in the sims
• typesetting things to print for bookbinding
• complaining about books i don't like
• admiring my collection of knickknacks
• playing games with my friends
• moving draggable divs around on a page... i love dragging a div!!!
• putting together a fun outfit
• shredding paper in my new paper shredder
• planning elaborate projects
• reading my own fanfiction (writing it, though... oughh)
• organizing unimportant information in spreadsheets
• giving people presents they really like

• walking the seafront with my friends on wednesdays
• gossiping with those friends (I'm the youngest, they are all over 70)
• reading ("golden age" crime, or old girls' school stories)
• playing with my cats
• writing letters
• working on my websites
• doing kriss-kross and arrowwords puzzles
• buying stickers on Temu
• watching Star Trek (all flavours, but current favourite is Strange New Worlds)
• walking in the ancient wood near my house
• going on day trips with my husband and our daughter
• going to the spring/autumn/winter shows at Builth Wells with my daughter (we love agricultural shows)

Trying to make these as specific as possible!!!

• foraging regional fruit to make into syrup that I can use in kombucha (the little fun-coloured bottles look so cute in the fridge too!!)
• cleaning up the typography of a paragraph to be more legible after
• watching sourdough rise
• running my fingers over a sewn spine to feel the threads
• going to uni early to work when nobody is there yet
• rubbing fabric I knit myself on my face (lol)
• redoing my CV with a matching business card for the 34890329048th time this year
• doing todays crossword at work
• filling in forms & documents
• watching my boyfriend pace back and forth when he gets excited about explaining a topic he knows a lot about
• going on little missions with said boyfriend (e.g. getting a little beverage at the store and taking a walk along the river)

• building lego, especially plants!
• surfing the web; mostly looking at other people's personal sites and seeing all the time and effort was put into making their space on the internet their own.
• planning outfits. even if i'm just staying at home i love picking out accessories and trying to match a theme. gets me to see what i like and don't like about my wardrobe and if i want to donate anything.
• going to get a little snack like boba or ice cream. especially with how hot it's been lately!
• doing crafts. i like to make kandi and painting the most, but it's fun to learn new things even if i suck at them.
• window shopping. especially at the thrift store. i love seeing old tech or vintage things even if i don't buy them
• decorating my purse. i like what's in my bag type videos cause it's cool seeing what people use a lot. i love to switch mine out once in a while and decorate with pins.
• going to build a bear.
• spreadsheets lol. i have so many. i love to organize things!
• making sites. even if i don't publish them online, it's fun!
• making playlists. especially for people i know or based off of an original character
• making ocs and using dress up games or the sims to create how they look
• going to the farmer's market and international grocery stores. i like to try different types of jams and food from other countries. last time i went i got some milk tea kit kats.
• browsing wikipedia and going down internet rabbit holes.
• playing video games, especially rpgs or visual novels
• playing with cats, they are my favorite animal and i don't think i've ever met one that didn't like me
• making food for people, either for a special occasion or just because!

 I am gonna try list some things that make me happy

 

• Watching old '80s horror movies with my cats
• Playing video games with my friends (or single player games whilst sat in Discord just enjoying their company)

• Finding old '80s and '90s toys/action figures at flea markets or online for a good price
• Drawing monsters/my characters/expressing myself through art

• Keeping Planet Kate alive with fanart and awareness
• Looking after all my critters

• Eating nice food and watching stuff with my roomie
• Going outside when it's really sunny and warm

• Collecting vintage Halloween things
• Reading comics

• Being in my office surrounded by all my things with my lavalamp on
• Smelling spiced sweet candles or incense

• Grocery shopping (I dunno why, it always feels fun)
• Pretending to be a ghost

• Cuddling my cats
• Doing art trades or getting any sort of gift art (it's been a LONG time since anyone drew anything for me tho)

• sitting on my porch and drinking coffee
• watching crawfish swim around backwards
• napping in the sun
• driving with the windows down on a weird back highway
• listening to radio stations from all across the world
• taking apart and reassembling mechanical things
• sorting objects or lining them up from smallest to largest
• turning out the lights, turning on my lava lamps, and dancing
• dancing poorly in general. it's so freeing.

• Petsims: I've been playing online games like Chicken Smoothie, Lioden, and Flight Rising for nearly a decade
• Coding: Even before I started actually learning HTML and CSS, I learned the very basics to customize my profiles around the web. The very first code I ever did was a den layout for Lioden.
• Outdated/retro tech
• Infodumping: I suck at talking and can't really get my thoughts out in verbal conversations but that doesn't stop me from yapping all the time. I love talking about my interests.
• Saving images on Pinterest
• Daydreaming: I get stuck in my own mind a lot. I like coming up with plots and characters and settings, even if I never write them down. It's fun just to brainstorm.
• Mahjong.
• Guitar: I've just started learning but it's really fun! I feel like I picked up the guitar faster than any other instrument I've tried to learn :D
