making x_ite into a standalone plugin

Is there a way to turn X_ITE into a plugin? Kinda like Ruffle. I emailed the guy behind the project and he suggested i should use some chrome plugins, which arent what im looking for and also i dont use chrome. And i dont have the resources to setup a small local server nor am i interested in one.
I want it to load a WRL or X3d file whenever the web browser loads one up and it isnt already being viewed by some other viewer. I think it'd also be cool to do multiuser support like Blaxxun did but thats not a priority. I just think it'd be a neat project to do to make a good vrml viewer cuz alot of the ones I tried have a lot of issues, like weird unintuitive controls, not working on all PCs, having to be paid for, etc.
