Hey guys! If you don't know what RSS feeds are, here's an awesome guide to them. Essentially, it's an update notification for websites, kind of like the NeoCities update feature. Except that they work for all sites. I can imagine this would be useful especially if you host off of NeoCities, like on NekoWeb. RSS feeds take like 5 minutes to set up. Seriously, you just need to do is create a file, change some things, and link to it. Then you can use a browser extension, phone app, or other software to read all of your feeds. It's GENUINELY super simple even if you have no technical skills whatsoever. I made an RSS feed here! I was wondering if anyone else in the community to RSS feeds to subscribe to There's obviously the MelonLand RSS feed too! Subscribe to mine heehee

I love RSS! I think it was Nicky Case at ncase.me who convinced me to take the leap into the wonderful world of Really Simple Syndication. I never pass up an opportunity to give a shoutout to my favourite RSS reader: CommaFeed! it's 100% free and has all the features you might want (at least for general use). It's technically web-only, but I added the shortcut to my phone's home screen and it works just fine and dandy on there as well. I'm not affiliated with it in any way, I'm just a big fan!
Anyway, to get back to the matter at hand, I have actually set up an RSS feed on my website, albeit just for my blog posts. It's not automated—I have to do it all by hand. In fact, I think I might have broken it last time I updated it, according to Feed Canary. That said, I can see both of my existing blog posts on there, so goodness knows what's happening!
But in any case, if you're interested in my witterings (that may or may not actually show up in your RSS feed), you can subscribe here or via the RSS icon on my website!

Aghhh yess, RSS feeds are great. I only have one at the moment for my writing stuff. Sort of needed because I don't post frequently so no one would know to check unless there was a notification of sorts. It's just about like, whatever I am writing about at the moment. Currently just guides but I intend to eventually write reviews or thoughts or other things (eventually, if I ever have freetime). One of these days I need to put the stupid gallery of my goofy ahh art together but still haven't done it because college stinky.I have tried to get into RSS stuff before, but I tend to stop checking after a while (i used newsboat) and then i didnt want to spend an hour reading all the missed stuff so I stopped.. I might try again with a graphical reader now tho!
I used to have the same issue too. I find it helps a lot if you put it somewhere where you see it first thing and then have it running in the background somewhere close. I originally started with a browser extension to do it but it was still too out of the way for my liking and I was experimenting a lot with browsers so it was a bit annoying to keep having to export and import my stuff into different extensions, so I ended up moving to a dedicated program that would start when my computer started so I could see everything new as soon as it turned on (ended up going with Liferea), and then later when I started using Betterbird (functionality also existed in Thunderbird too though) I put the RSS feeds in there so I'd have less programs running in the background (not that Liferea was taking all the resources or anything, I just didn't like the redundancy). I wouldn't nessicerily say that Betterbird/Thunderbird is that great of an RSS reader of course (the little Supernova redesign makes it feel very weird if you don't tweak some stuff and get used to other quirks), but I was already using it for email and looking at it pretty regularly so using it for that too and just having everything altogether like that works out pretty well.
