An answer to S. or: How ironic is the Web-Revival?

The biggest flaw I can find in current media (movies, books, series, games, etc.) and something that has bled into the general public's perception, is that nothing is sincere anymore. There's always a snarky comment or something that will undo the genuine moment of emotion just right about the corner. It's as if suddenly we were ashamed of being human and having human desires and emotions How am I supposed to take the story seriously if the story is afraid of taking itself seriously?*

This 1000%, I'm so tired of how everyone has to be hidden under 5 layers of sarcasm and irony to avoid being labeled as "cringe". A huge part of why I like web-revival is that people aren't afraid to be earnest and truly express themselves. This community definitely has a whimsical quality to it, but it seems to be present due to people genuinely liking that style rather than out of a sense of mean-spirited cynicism.
