Hello, friend! First of all, I'm glad you liked the project.
Since I live with my wife and son, it wouldn't be sensible to force them to drop everything to experience the project with me, so I'm flexible when I'm with them. If my wife wants to watch a current series, I'll watch it, if my son wants to go see a movie that came out at the cinema, I'll watch it with him.
At work, I also can't use technology from 28 years ago, lol. But in this case, it's basically using a current computer and the current Microsoft Office.
As for contemporary media:
- Most of the music I listened to before starting the project was from 1997 or so, so I didn't have any major problems with that;
- Most of the series and movies that I like/want to watch are also older. And since I limited the episodes to watching them on their original release date, this has greatly reduced the time I spend watching TV, which I see as positive;
- I think the same goes for games. Although I'm a bit lazy about playing games these days, it kind of doesn't matter;
- My biggest bottleneck has been YouTube, I confess. There are many things that I can't find any other source to learn other than through videos, like how to configure the emulator to install Windows 95.
As for contemporary technologies:
- I looked for a cell phone from 1997, but since they've become collector's items, they're extremely expensive and rare to find. Furthermore, since they didn't work with a chip at the time, they would be useless today. So I still use my smartphone, but only for communication purposes;
- At home I also use a current notebook, but generally I use Windows 95 on an emulator that simulates hardware from that time (except for browsing the internet, which wasn't possible through the emulator).
