I'd say the pattern for me was Firefox, Waterfox, Vivaldi, Opera GX, and back to Firefox(so, current). but I use Vivaldi on my phone. :V

i mainly alternate between brave and firefox right now, but it's just because i'm waiting for my new laptop to come in the mail :cheesy: when it comes in, i'll probably switch from brave to librewolf, and then alternate between librewolf and firefox!

The system I'm in uses Firefox, and we rely on multi-account containers. We also use Chrome because for our Chromebook certain features only work in the Chrome browser and we were gifted a Chromecast.

Occasionally we use Palemoon, but only maybe once every few months.

These days I don't think anyone can really get by without multiple browsers.
I use LibreWolf on the daily (a libre, privacy aware Firefox fork), which works with practically all websites, but in the rare case that it fails, I also have qutebrowser on standby. If I want a different browsing experience, I may use Netsurf, w3m or Elinks (the latter two are terminal/console user interfaces).

Since my 9Front days i am mostly using Netsurf (its small! its fast!) which - due to its limited rendering capabilities - is also a nice filter to keep me away from sites like reddit etc.

Of course, the modern web is what it is, i have also installed Firefox as a "necessary evil" for things like onlinebanking.

Im trying out Arc right now based on this - so far its super cool! (Although I don't like that it needs a login) but the design and features seem really playful.

The scrapbooking feature is interesting.. though I dunno how much I need it? maybe I do?
The ability to modify websites and share your modifications with others is very cool, I look forward to trying it out! :ha:

Omg it lets you turn youtube text into wingdings

EDIT:
Oh no what have I done

I use Mozilla Firefox and Lynx. I find Lynx particularly useful for testing a website or web app to see if it's actually accessible because it doesn't implement JavaScript at all. I'm generally of the opinion that if a website or web app doesn't work in Lynx then it just doesn't work.

Another pink UI in the attachments. Full glory Netscape on Windows 98.

The dark turquoise is really the colour of the old web, thanks to Netscape maybe?

Recently, I switched from Icecat to an older version of Palemoon. I've got performance issues with those big browsers on my tiny netbook and have to use them very rarely, fortuneatly.

I'm generally of the opinion that if a website or web app doesn't work in Lynx then it just doesn't work.

You rock! It's not like all the design options went away through stating that the site has to look good in a text-browser. Just needs some fine-tuning.
For text browsing, I can also recommend w3m.

Does anyone know if there are any halfway decent browsers that don't have the modern 'flat' design, or how I could customize one to look like it?

SeaMonkey has a very nice Netscape-esque design! And it works on most sites, at least that I use---some social media probably doesn't work, though.

Mainly Vivaldi, since its interface doesn't look big and clunky like it was designed for a tablet (Edge and Chrome), it's not uber-slow (Pale Moon) and it has a more customizable interface than modern Firefox. (If Classic Theme Restorer worked, I'd be back on Firefox in a heartbeat.) I use SeaMonkey as my backup browser, since in my experience it works way better and faster than Pale Moon, and it has a nice retro interface.

These days, I've switched to Seamonkey as my main Web browser and e-mail client! I love the interface and I feel like it encourages me to get out there and surf the Net more instead of piddling around on Youtube or whatever. Vivaldi is now my backup browser.

I'm all for design uptions, but I'm also a big fan of progressive enhancement and making core functionality universally available. I remember what it was like to access the web on dialup. I was lucky to get 56Kbps on a good day; despite having a top of the line modem (US Robotics Model 5610) I was lucky to top 28.8Kbps most of the time. I also know of at least one person who accesses my site with a screen reader.

For text browsing, I can also recommend w3m.

I've used w3m. And eww in GNU Emacs. But lynx was my first text-mode browser way back in the 1990s.

I'm using Arc. It takes me back to the days when browsers were relatively new and adding cool features all the time. Every week, Arc updates and shows you the cool new features they added.

It's been a real pleasure to use so far. Feels like it's built by people who care.

Just wanted to chime in with the new reveals about the Brave browser and its founder that have been everywhere, might be interesting for some people:
https://www.spacebar.news/p/stop-using-brave-browser

As for my browsing habits, I use LibreWolf if I need a fully featured browser that can run anything, Elinks for text mode browsing, NetSurf for my leisure machines and rotate somewhere between Dillo, Konqueror or Seamonkey for minor projects.
