The fact that we evolved far beyond other species to the point we must be alien to them. I've stumbled upon an earthworm today and it goes in the ground doing its life when I'm part of a species that has the possibility to travel in space and send probes across the universe. All animals are living normally looking for shelter and food while as a mammal species we mastered most of our surroundings like sound, light and everything. I still have a hard time to understand that we're the only species that achieved this on our planet. I can't stop thinking about it all day...
I think about this sometimes but through a lens of how removed we are from what we, as animals, are supposed to be. Not to get too doomer-sounding, bc i dont feel doomer about it, but- it feels like as a whole, people aren't really meant to be living the way we're living now. smaller communities and more connection to the world vs trying to live above it would do a lot of good. Thats how I feel, anyway. I recognize that could just be the case for me in particular, but its easy to apply it broadly when i feel so strongly about it. also, what i've been fixated on is getting back into my abandoned interests. somewhere around 17 i decided all my interests and hobbies were too cringe (≖ω≖) so now i have to get back into it all. right now its playing breath of fire 3 and making anime-style characters to daydream stories and ideas about lol

ive been SUPER hyperfixated on the it crowd (and to a lesser extent, uk comedy as a whole), which absolutely sucks for me as a trans person because the guy who made that show is the scum of the earth in terms of transphobia, to the point where nobody will work with him and his wife divorced him youtuber lily simpson made a really interesting video on the topic (because funnily enough it was a poorly-aged episode of the it crowd that started graham linehans public fall down the terf pipeline): Spoiler yes the episode aged badly because of course it did, its an episode about trans people from a mid-00s uk sitcom that already had some pretty poorly-aged jokes and episodes [see s4e3. i could write a whole essay about how much i hate that episode], but it really doesnt age as badly as episodes from other shows around that time. the trans woman is actually played by a woman (ideally she'd have been played by a trans woman but the bar is on the floor here - most poorly aged episodes of shows ive seen with trans women have them played by men, id say her being played by a cis woman is better than not a woman at all), and the bigoted character is supposed to be in the wrong in most episodes. ive seen a handful of people online say that when they first saw the episode, they thought it was pro-trans with just some poorly-placed audience laughter. the episode in question (s3e4 'the speech') has been taken off of all streaming services which i think is a shame - not because of the transphobia, but because the main plot of the episode is one of the funniest things ive seen. like, this would be a top 3 episode for me if not for the transphobic subplot. but also linehan said he would never work with channel 4 again so long as the episode was banned so thats a sacrifice im willing to make /silly when watching things that havent aged well, i think of a line from chonny jash's remake of banana man by tally hall - "its perfectly fine to wear rose-tinted lenses, but dont neglect your other senses" - i acknowledge that arguably quite a bit of the show has aged poorly, but i can still laugh at the parts that hold up today - and i can headcanon them all as transgender out of spite <3 ive just been watching through all the dvds because theyve got some really fun menus and bonus bits, and now i spend all day thinking about my favourite autistic (partially canon, partially headcanon, partially technically-not-canon-but-Just-Look) codependent (canon according to the series 3 dvd blurb) homoerotic (i could also write a whole essay on/make a whole compilation of roy and moss's homoeroticism in the show because. what was their problem /silly) it consultants <333
