Goals!

Goals are the flags we put down on the path for anything we want to progress in! They're often important if you want more than just aimless progression towards something we don't think about until we're there. While we don't necessarily need to have a goal if we just want to have fun, having goals to forward ourselves to getting better/completing something helps us see the forest for the trees.

While we try to reach for the goal as soon as we can as hard as we can, we should always take the time and have patience to break down our goals into nice byte sized chucks that make it easier to track our hard earned progress. Like side quests that help us reach the main quest! We should generally have a goal in mind if we want to push our love of our work further than before, and the little side quests that level us up quicker for our overall journey! :goL:

Want to be a fulltime streamer? Then how about:
Stream design and vibes? -> Cam, png/Vtuber, or no image of yourself? -> What do you want to stream? -> When should you stream? -> How often? -> Do you let people know you're streaming? -> Events? -> Multistreams? -> Sub & follower goals/rewards?

You can break down any goal like this! It doesn't have to be in order of what others have done or think of, but in order of what you want to accomplish first! Even sub-goals can be broken down if needed!

An important thing we should address is setting the bar too high, too quickly. In another post, I talked about motivation, but making your goals way too ambitious in the short term could toss all motivation into the recycling bin faster than Ozwomp hacking you. :ozwomp::pc: It's about the journey and not the end that makes a story good, but trying to jump straight to the end and failing/stalling leaves you unfulfilled, demoralized, and with a sense that you're not good enough. Take your time and smell the flowers! There's no rush on your loved work!  :4u:

Also remember to set long-term and short-term goals! Short term goals seems a lot like sub-goals, but believe me they're completely different! A Long-Term Goal is generally the SUPER big goal you want to achieve; say like for me it's starting an animation studio! You can have as many or few of these as you want, but generally there's at least one. Short-Term Goals are the milestones and chapters that make up the book that is a Long-Term goal. They're just as important, and more numerous, but easier to achieve than your Long-Term.

All of that would look sorta like:

Start Animation Studio(LTG)
(STG) Hire a team!
(subG) 2 Animators
(subG) 2 BG artists
(subG) 1 Sound Engi.

(STG) Bi Weekly Short-Story anims.
(subG)Write story
(subG)Design Characters
(subG)Make Music/SFX

(STG) Weekly anims.
(subG) ...

This is just an example, but it could be as small/big or as simple/complicated as you want! As long as it helps you move from step to step, then the way you make your journey is up to you! Goals are simply a way to help you work with purpose, but does not give what your doing the purpose itself. Try not to get lost in goals for the reason you're doing what you love, but to give it structure to do more of what you love your way!

What do you think about setting goals? Do you use them, and have they helped you pave your path forward? I'd love to hear about it!
