Oh my gosh those Warriors cats videos! Especially the second one! I must've watched it like 30 times. For real though? Those cat animators really went a long way. If you've seen the recent stuff of the ones that stuck with it, they're so talented!

Anyway wow. I had alnost forgotten all the shakeup that project brought to the fandom. The production value was incredible. I remember when it went all to Patreon and then we had no more news of it nor the author, I wonder if it's still going on.

IT IS VERY NARUTOEY but i think that's because it generally had very big anime influences on its production. but honestly it's still impressive just as you said, i find myself returning to SSS WARRIOR CATS every so often just to watch it again.... it's part of my childhood for sure!!!

i have some more videos for everyone, though :D i highly recommend watching these, they're sooo nostalgic to me and each is wonderful and amazing in their own way!! theyre all multi animator projects, which if you dont know, means a collaborative effort between multiple animators to create a finished product essentially! the community is still alive and well on youtube, and there's some REALLY REALLY professional looking projects out there,  i highly recommend searching some up in your own time. but you can always ask me about it if you want some recommendations!!

When I was an angsty teenager, I often watched Sum 41 / Three Days Grace songs played over Harry Potter fan edits. This was of course before we found out about her.

One of my favourites is 14 years old, Sum 41 - Pieces.

Edit: Just realised this isn't even the original, the views are way too low and the year is wrong. It would've been 2008/2009 if it was the original. So even older!

A 25+ year old Internet video! (on YouTube for 18+ years)

Okay, so this one's embarrassing as hell, but I'm a believer in owning my online history rather than trying to pretend it didn't happen, sooo...

I'm going to share with you a video that's been online for a massive twenty-five years, so it pre-dates YouTube! But it's been on YouTube for eighteen years, so it's probably going to be among the oldest videos shared in this thread.

I know about this video... because I made it. And by way of attempting to mitigate my embarrassment, let me start with some context...

The Story of Scatman Dan's World

In 1999, as an older teen, I left home and went off to university. In my halls of residence, my cohabitants quickly nicknamed me "Scatman Dan", after discovering that I'd memorised the lyrics to pretty much every Scatman John song and could often be heard scatting-along to the tunes in my head while, for example, taking a shower.

(I'd started blogging in 1998, but I used the name Scatman Dan after rebooting my blog in 2003, then "Scatman" Dan Q from around 2007 until around 2012 when I registered my current domain and started simply using Dan Q.)

Late in 1999 I started dating a young woman who, ultimately, turned out to be my worst ever relationship. She and were misaligned on basically everything that mattered. And worse, once we'd moved-in together she became increasingly manipulative, controlling, and destructive, sabotaging my connections to friends and family, linking our finances and then locking me out of them, and, over time, becoming emotionally and physically abusive. It was a Bad Time, and yet at the time she'd eroded my self-worth enough that I pretty-much felt like I deserved it. Ugh.

When we finally broke up, towards the end of 2001, I was left penniless and owing thousands of pounds to debts that she'd run up in my name.

So in late 2001 I moved into the attic of my dad's house while I got myself (financially and emotionally) back on my feet. There, after a couple of months, and alongside doing some contract work to make ends meet and working out how to get back into my degree, I taught myself some elementary Adobe Premiere and spent my nights... adapting scans of all of my photos into a montage... to the tune of Scatman's World. It was, in hindsight, part of a healing process: getting back in touch with the "real me".

The video and its brief theatrical screening

Okay! The video! It's mostly just images, set to a beat, along with a couple of basic animations and webcam footage (with baaad lip-sync!). I'll stress that back then video editing was harder, and my computer was dramatically underpowered for the experience. Each frame with a slightly different amount of text displayed was a separate JPEG image ("titles" weren't yet a fully-fledged feature of Premiere). And the webcam bits had to be filmed entirely-separately from the music and then sort-of aligned later on. This thing - and I'll stress that it's pretty shit - took me months of hacking away for a few minutes, maybe up to half an hour, each evening, alongside lots of actual-adulting-work to try to put my life back together again.

And... it sort-of worked. By the time I was wrapping up this video, about four months after moving into my dad's house, I had a plan to get my life back on-track: to move back to my university town, to finish my degree, to reconnect with friends from whom I'd become isolated...

So I finished my video, and gathered some friends at the cinema of an arts centre where a buddy of mine was the projectionist, and showed them all. And after some laughter, and some conversation, and a little crying, I was able to put to bed that chapter of my life and move on. I put the video on the Internet, and (despite a URL change) it's been almost-continuously available since.

And it's super cringy. I warned you about that already, right? Also, it's about 95% in-jokes that only my friend group at the time would appreciate. Also, I look so young in it; which, I don't know, shouldn't surprise me 'cos we're talking about a quarter of a century ago, but still.

Right, those are the warnings. (Basically, I'm telling you not to watch it!) Except for one -

It's part of an in-joke between some friends and I, but the nudity section is this: from about 54 seconds I'm seen, naked except for a balloon (the design of which didn't come out post-compression, but it's the URL of my website at the time) held in front of me at about waist-height. As I lip-sync along to the song, I reach for a pencil, push its point into the balloon, and it bursts, showing me completely naked for one single frame before it cuts away to the rest of the video.
