i'm a huge fan of RPG Maker games in general, stuff like JoJo's 7TH Stand User - must play if you are a JoJo fan - or OneShot, although I can also talk about Helen's Mysterious Castle - game's like 2 bucks on steam btw - which is a game that uses mostly the default assets that come with 2003 but it has a really sick battle system and level progression, its also really well animated!


i see RPG Maker go on sale a lot on steam, so I bought a ton of versions, 2000, 2003, VX Ace, XP, all with the wish to make a game on it... still considering just what to make on it as the options seem near endless. A pokemon fangame is an option still on my head, seen so many great ones come out lately.  :ozwomp:

RPG Maker was my very first game engine! i used it when i was in high school.  :transport:

it def helped me to try gamedev, even if it's as simplified as basic RPG Maker system (i know it could be heavily modified, but i'm talking about simplicity of the basics).

i think this experience is still helping me! i feel like it gives me confidence in myself, because i know i can do this already.
i really want to try gamedev again, probably Twine/Godot/RenPy, but maybe RPG Maker as well?

fun fact: i confessed to my crush with making a small game about it with RPG Maker, and giving them USB drive >_< (i was 16 or 17)
