Months ago I finally got meds for my ADHD after being off them for nearly 17 years.  It took me a long while to just get to the doctors because I kept getting distracted.  The meds I got did kinda work but the side effects were to much so I had to stop taking them. Its been months and I keep saying that I'm going to call the doc again to get things going again for another prescription, but I just been stalling, and I believe because I'm afraid that if I get another it won't work and I'm just back at square one again (But with side effects).

I need to get back on the pills because my ADHD hasn't gotten better over the years, and in the world of algorithm driven addiction, I'm in more need of it now then before.  In order to help my problem I've limited my time on Instagram by 30 minutes, after that time the phone locks the app for 24 hours.  My youtube has been cut down as well, I have a plug in the hides the comments and suggested videos.  This just leaves the video itself and my subscription feed, which I cut down as well.   I feel with those precautions I've find myself less distracted but I'm having trouble just keeping on task even if I managed to start it.  I hope I am not coming off as 'Old Man Yells At Cloud' but it feels like tech these days is made to distract and impede more then it is to be helpful.

I agree to your judgment about modern technology. Afaik, there are psychologist employed at the big corpos mainly there to increase the potential for addiction ("black patterns", "nudges", etc.). Limiting your screen time/usage of such pages is a good idea - don't feel reluctant to use tools (like block-add-ons, redirects, and so on) if they help you to do it - the other side is using software to keep you dialed in as well.

Dealing with medical/health related questions is difficult here; this forum ain't really the best setting (and this might be true for all online communities, or the internet in general). If you can anyhow manage, seeing your doctor is your best option - he can also tell you what other medication is available, and what the involved risks are. Depending on your country, alternatives to medical treatments might be also available.
